You're taking fate in your own hands with SS screws from china. I haven't had mixed results with Chinese stainless steel screws because they've all been bad. Even locally retailed Chinese screws (*cough* Bunnings *cough* Trademe *cough*) are junk. Cr@ppy 316 SS = 1/3 popped heads, and all with surface rust.

If I can't get what I want genuinely locally, American brand name supplies through Amazon are a much more reliable bet.

The builder on my brothers house was supposed to use stainless steel screws and they have all corroded. I am guessing they are cheap chinese ones too, as they were likely purchased from a big box hardware store. They still charge the earth for them. The prices in these hardware stores is so high, but probably due to lack of competition.

On that note, I highly recommend Amazon for spark plugs and leads etc for your car.

Usually all for the price of two locally.

The only downside I see is that this gadget's output is locked on 96.4 -- if there's an FM station nearby, on or near that frequency, it might not work to well. The manual was a an A5 with pictures and numbers, but no English. It has QR codes, but they didn't work.

One annoying thing... when it turns on, it does a doodly tune thing, then a jingly tune thing. Loud. :(

Who the hell ever thought one loud noise would be a good idea, let alone two! :(

Damn this post!!! You just cost me many browsing hours and a lot of cash!!! Lol. Love gadgets / new toys far too much... even if I don't need it, if it has some use or at least a 4 star cool status I gotta have it :-)

Thanks Rich. I have a Pajero so rear view mirror is mostly blocked by the spare wheel anyway ...

Its just like 2 of the other ones stuck in a single mirror, Each has 2 inputs that have one taking priority over the other one. Its a little weird to use as a mirror because of the tint, but I don't use the internal mirror much anyway when driving. When it is really bright it can be a little hard to see the picture on it, but I have it for the falcon that I tow with which is reasonably dark inside anyway. If you have a convertable then they would be useless.

Ooo-eer, Dang. Rebuilt the boat using 304 and 316's from Bunnings .... Thankfully, most f them are fully embedded in epoxy ... thanks for the tip .. I think ..

Sorry, upon re-reading my post I have been a bit misleading. So far as I can tell, not all screws from Bunnings are from China (or at least if they are, not all screws from Bunnings are junk). Some are actually fine. However, it's really hard figuring out the good from the bad until you get them home and either cam out or pop the heads of the first five screws in the box. In my experience, the ones that don't drive properly are also the most likely to rust/corrode.

EDL seems to be the main brand stocked in my local Bunnings, but there aren't any "made in..." statements on the pack. I've had completely different results from the same brand of screws with different batch numbers. However, the convenience of it still has me in Bunnings more or less constantly. I try and avoid stainless now unless I don't have a choice though. I've found myself using brass a whole lot more of late, though brass screws are their own special kind of b'arch.

Im amazed at the price of the screws at bunnings. I am assuming there is a huge trade discount on them or something because they are way more expensive than handy warehouse, and I dont have a problem with screws from there having the heads pop off them, even when the impact driver is impacting virtually the entire depth of the screw while putting it in.

Not for any of the builders I am mates with. Big discounts on timber. Not so much on the hardware.

I find the feedback system rather useless, because if someone has an issue with a product, they open a dispute, and get a refund, and then it never gets heard about by other people interested in buying it because they can't leave feedback
