Then I just need to find a Tesla certified installer who will carry out the work anyone know of a company that would be willing to help

thanks

Hey @Wolvo - I could be interested in 5-6 panels. Auckland based but pass through Wark regularly. Ta

Unfortunately I couldn't find anyone who was willing to install them so I pulled the plug on the pallet and will have to go with installing what panels the electrical company uses which is shame because their mark up is excessive still looking at options cheers

Are you fully sold on Powerwall or consider other battery options?

I've been referred to an Auckland electrician happy to install panels I've sourced on rails I've installed. But don't think he does Powerwall.

Well October is as good as finished.

700kwh generated 94% self generated ( due to first few days mostly)

Should have been 1050kwh or so but no ability to export still.

I'm surprised at how easy I am covering my use for early spring, been 'off grid' pretty much all month.

Are you on PVOutput?  Quite handy for comparing your system with the neighbours and seeing whoose is bigger.
I made 750kWh from 5.4KW of panels on a 5K inverter.

PV Output

Yes indeedily Signernergy looks, and is reportedly, very cool!

I'm aware of two installers who are offering in Auckland region, from ~$20K for 5kW installed (inverter, battery, panels)

Just got a very welcome email from Octopus stating they are raising their buyback rate back up to 17c from 15 - nice!

Great to see our Octopus FIT going back up to what it was prior to the reduction when our account with them clocked 12 months in September.

Hmmm, we're with Octopus and had a quote two years ago for 10@415W Jinko panels, 5kW Huawei inverter and energy meter plus HWC timer for $12k all up which I didn't think was too bad.

Life got in the way at the time, but maybe it's time to reconsider it.

Based on our experience and usage my suggestion would be to add a few extra panels to that if space permits. 13 or 14 panels would give you peak inverter generation for more of the day and increase generation in cloudy conditions. If panels reach the inverters maximum input the inverter will just throttle what it accepts. The 5kW inverter will ensure your export remains below the 5kW? cap set by most line companies.

Also consider a HWC diverter rather than a timer. Using a timer locks the HWC consumption at the element rating (3kW?) for the schedule set. A diverter will 'follow' the available generation in partly cloudy conditions which can make a lot of difference in avoiding importing from the grid if generation levels fluctuate. Our Paladin diverter is the single best value for money item in our set up, followed by an Evnex EVSE that follows the same strategy for EV charging when set to its solar diversion option.
