Did you notice a speed difference 'surfing the net' or 'over your network' between machines?

Changing to 6A would not "speed" up your internet connection, could of been a faulty plug instead.

'Nah Ya Dreamin Mate', won't make an ounce of difference unless you are running it next to 3-phase wiring, looped around a commercial transformer, then the last couple of meters over a dozen fluorescent lights.
What type if broadband are you using? ADSL, VDSL, Cable or Fiber.....
