Getting a refund is a joke. I had an item that didn't arrive. Seller wouldn't help so I logged a dispute with AliExpress. They told me I couldn't have a refund because I couldn't "prove the item never arrived" despite the tracking showing it never left China. I had to do a credit card chargeback in the end.

Haha , reminds me how i left negative feedback on dx.com twice before, and they did not print it.

The dx.com site is really quite bad. I always accept a high chance of something being wrong -- have pretty much stopped buying from dx now . After all, how many bad reviews have they censored.

Not my experience at all... I've disputed a couple of items that didn't arrive, and got refunds both times.

The dx.com site is really quite bad. I always accept a high chance of something being wrong -- have pretty much stopped buying from dx now . After all, how many bad reviews have they censored.

Also terribly slow to ship things IME. Used to be good but as they have grown and taken on so many 3rd party sellers they have really started to disappoint more often than not.

Sometimes the shipping is really good, 7-10 days. Other times its 2 weeks or more

Android Car stereo - definitely worth it.

I have my appointments sync'd with my phone automatically whenever I pull up at home or the office.

SD card full of music - i will work out a way to FTP sync this at some point

NEXT offline maps means inbuilt satnav - I am often out of cell coverage when I need to look up an address

TV tuner - I am looking for an old UHF video sender so I can connect a camera in the garage up to it and tune it in on the car stereo so I can reverse my trailer and ATV in - a better angle for a reversing camera. Oh and it will take a reversing camera directly too when connected correctly to the reversing lights or gear stick.

There are quite a few UHF transmitting cameras all over aliexpress, so you could just order one of those. Just check that the channel is actually free since there are pesky digital TV broadcasts all over the band.

The thing is the "2.4GHz" wireless camera senders are so cheap I would just get a pair of them. They have 4 channels that are outside the 2.4GHz band, top of the 2.3 and bottom of the 2.5 that are free of wifi and bluetooth interference.

Two packages arrived, both things already linked earlier in the thread.

The mosquito netting. I bought four. Hopefully they work well on wooden window frames, but don't see why they shouldn't.
The multisocket power board with NZ wall plug, and the five sockets that take any countries plugs. It's a little bulky, but for the price compared to availability of similar products in New Zealand, it's working great. I've put it in the kitchen where I've got an american plugged coffee grinder, which I normally put into a substandard adapter bought at The Warehouse probably for close to the same price of this board. I'll probably buy another board for the television area.

Still one to arrive, the LED flashlight also linked earlier in the thread.

Some of the links above are dead, so I had to extract the search terms, and work out the most likely supplier for the product.

As an idea, I've got an LED torch that takes two 18650 Li-Ion Batteries, and a charger for them. (might need to get a longer 3x battery version, but will see).

Add to that a 3 axis gimbal and I should (hopefully) be headed towards making my own handheld gopro gimbal.

Oh and a smartphone pipe clamp mount thing, so I can have a screen also.

Other recent thing was a snorkel with GoPro mount on it. Cos you know, it's winter and all...

The problem I have with all the 18650 flashlights is that they all have no protection built in, so you have to get those damn protected cells which all seem to have their own idea of when to cut off for being low etc. No warning of low battery on a flashlight is something I cant really live with.

Agreed. But in my case the LED is being ripped out, and I'll charge before I use the gimbal.

But yes, that's a design flaw/unfortunate side affect of the approach for sure.

I actually saw a nice looking protected 3s 18650 pack on aliexpress once, with a 3s charger it would fit into. single protection board so minimal thickness increase vs 3 of them and the added nipple to each cell, and it would take care of ballancing itself when charged, but I lost the listing. THat would be ideal if you have a light housing it would fit into since there is no way to mess it up and accidentally run 2 full cells and one flat one and have it cut out in no time on you.

Or get a smarter charger to assess the health of the cells individually.
