@martyyn: yes, that's pretty much it. We also have monthly Simple Saver specials which should buy as they have a good discount.

@BraaiGuy is correct in the way he describes how prices are calculated, and that it takes a few month's meter reads for your estimated usage to settle down. It sounds like in his case usage went up from original estimates, but it is also possible it could go down. If you think you're a high-ish user then his advice to wait is correct. The other thing I would note is that we expect prices to increase in Apri next year (because network costs will be increasing) - current powerpack prices do not yet factor in any change, so buying Autmn and Winter powerpack before 1 April will allow you to beat the price increase. Squirrelling a bit of winter power away during summer also allows you to take the sting out of your winter power bills :)

Will the autumn and winter powerpacks be on sale until 31 March or do they disappear before then?

Autumn powerpacks are currently scheduled to be available until 3pm on 31 March (this may change, but they'll definitely be there until mid March), Winter pack are scheduled to be available until midnight on 25 June.

How much should the daily charge be for a low user?

I have a smart meter and live in Lower Hutt.

No one can beat me.. Didn't realized how much more I've been paying until now..
Time to jump ship..

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but, well, I've beaten you. And by a 50% margin too.

Hopefully this brings some Christmas cheer to people, seeing how much other people are paying for power.

Do I win now?

Wow. But 30 units is "about 5 days power"? That unit price must be mostly made up of the daily charge. Can you show us the breakdown?

Oh, it surely is. It's a business connection, so all we have is a few computers and some lighting.

Daily rate is $2.0279, so $60 per month. The power is actually quite cheap at a shade over 11 cents per unit.
