richms: Ozito don't design anything. It's a local brand on generic Chinese OEM gear.
Ok here was the outcome.
I went to Bunnings and started to speak to a guy who I really felt didn't really know what I wanted and was struggling, along comes a guy wearing an Ozito shirt. That guy knew EVERYTHING and was actually pretty fair and pretty unbiased in his recommendation. He put my mind at ease about some of the concerns I had, listened to what I wanted, asked me a few intelligent questions and then offered me a couple of solutions.
In the end I got this:

and
http://www.bunnings.co.nz/ozito-power-x-change-18v-impact-cordless-driver-skin_p06290472
and two of these with a 30 minute charger:

All as a bundle for $198
Then I bought this
http://www.bunnings.co.nz/ozito-power-x-change-18v-grass-trimmer-skin-_p03380874
So all said and done, for under $300.
He seemed very confident it would meet my needs and it all has a 5 year warranty and he said if I wasn't happy to contact the store and they would sort me out with alternatives.
He indicated an easy 25 minute life span for each of those batteries. It's all so much lighter than what I had before.
I'll be trying them out this weekend.
I know a lot of you thought Ryobi would be a better choice, but in the end it wasn't going to make much difference to me and he was excellent. He said he wouldn't be offended if I went Ryobi, said it was good kit, but assured me they will NOT be changing the battery layout and they are very heavily invested in this new series.
Thank you for all your help everyone, it has been very interesting. I'll post a mini review in a few days and let you know.
