I remember that Neflix spent a lot of money on their recommendations engine, and I was curious as to how the site interface works for you.  Do you find that the titles you are shown on the main page are relevant to your interests?

I don't know if I've just confused the hell out of the system with my past ratings, but I find that many of the titles shown on the main page only have "Our best guess for you: 2 stars" etc.   Why isn't my netflix page filled with titles it guesses I will rate 4 or 5 stars?  If they guess these titles will only get 2 stars from me, why are they shown on my main page? Is it somehow in Netflix's best interest to encourage me to watch uninteresting movies?

I find when I read recommendations from others sources/blogs etc, and search for the titles myself,  the 4 and 5 star movies are out there and it usually guesses that I'll rate them highly correctly.  So why aren't these shown on my main page?

It just seems a bit.... disorganised.  Your thoughts?

I'm surprised their UI has been so crap for so long. I find it really suboptimal

I find it does quite a good job of finding obscure documentaries I might like and generally does a good job of recommending TV shows I might like.
However for movies it seems to show me lots of action films which I don't really like.

As for the UI the Roku 3 has the best UI of all the devices I've tried.

I regularly switch between Roku 3, Xbox One and just the web

What I would love is a better way of browsing, through genres, being able to sort by release date etc

I use Movielens to get my recommendations, and then netflixaroundtheworld.com to find them on Netflix. I've found some brilliant stuff that way.

They don't have TV shows on Movielens though.

Interests: HTPC, Web App authoring.

My main frustration with the interface is it only remembers the last thing youve watched. Im usually watching 3 programs at any one time and every single time i have to go and search for the program as its not on the main screen. It's not a major but how difficult would it be to have 3 or four items in the recently watched section, yes you can click recently watched and it will bring up your entire history but thats not what i want. /rant
