Ok so I have Roku 3 in place now with all static routes setup as per Unotelly instructions. I can now see all the US channels (History, Netflix, HBO, Blockbuster, Disney etc etc).

Slightly confused where to go from here.

Do I need to pay and sign up for a US Cable TV account so that my Roku will be able to access full content on say History Channel ?

If so how do I avoid the monthly equipment fees if I simply want a customer account that my Roku app can use to verify I can access full content.

When you pay for Uno Telly what exactly are you getting ?

My understanding is that it's pretty difficult to get a US cable acct, like HBO for example. Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime etc...is easier, i.e. credit card, US address etc...and you're good to go.

There is a black market for cable accounts but I've never gone there cos Netflix serves me fine and there are plenty of free apps on the Roku (Like Crackle, Popcorn Flix etc) that provide enough content for me.

I just loaded up the History channel on my Roku and to unlock all of the content it gave me a code to use with my 'pay tv provider'. I went to DirectTV but it asked for my social security number. So yeah, that's gona be tough to do I imagine!

Unotelly gets you to the door. You then need to have keys to get in.

By this I mean Unotelly lets it look like you reside in a country of your choice to enable to get around geographical access restrictions. That's it. What you do or pay for after that is up to you.

If you want a place to start try signing up for a months free Netflix.

They already do in the form of HBO Nordic, which unblock-us.com supports. Closest the OP will get without resorting to black market cable accounts.

Sorry, I don't know if this actually allows you to use the HBO app on a Roku - anyone else here with a Roku tried it?

Managed to sign up to Hulu Plus via my Roku App last night, so have started getting some good content for $7.99US per month

My Picks so far

- South park
- Family guy
- American day
- Lots of documentaries
- Some good moveis
- Some kids stuff to keep sprog happy
- Discovery channel + Nat Geo
- A few second teir history channel shows (Pickers, Preppers, Cash cowboys etc)
- Most of the popular US tv series

Pity it lacks Pawnstars, Game of Thrones and True Blood, but hey for $7.99 (the cost of a couple of DVDs a month) its a crapload of quality content.

The 2 ads at the start of each is a bit annoying (but hey that's why its $7.99US a month instead of $25US)

Ultimately they need a model where you can watch to full episode for free and then pay to subscribe to the series (rather than the full channel). Allowing users to essentially build their own channels of the stuff they want.
