Hi,

I have a Sony KDL60W850B TV and a PS3 which I have running Netflix (US) unblocked courtesy of UnoTelly. This works perfectly well but I have been experimenting, with no success, on running Netflix directly on the TV.

I have tried changing the DNS settings on the TV as I did with the PS3, but I do not get the Netflix app.

If anyone has had any success with a Sony TV then I'd like to know what you did!

Thanks.

On my 48W600B I didn't have to do the code thing mentioned on the other thread, just had to enter The DNS settings and make sure the song tv setting is set on The unotelly Dynamo. Then once that was done you need to make sure you hit the refresh Internet content button to get the US apps. Netflix should be there and you just open it and log on.

I think the bit I'm missing is the UnoTelly Dynamo setting for Sony Devices - I will report back and if it works I'll try and leave a more detailed set of instructions.

Thanks for the advice, I now have the Netflix and BBC iPlayer apps installed on my Sony TV. It was all rather simple and I was indeed missing the UnoTelly Dynamo step. So here are some instructions just in case someone with a similar problem to me stumbles across this. I have a Sony, hopefully other sets are similar Once you have a UnoTelly account set-up, this is how to get the Netflix and BBC iPlayer apps.

1. As per UnoTelly instructions, set-up the Primary and Secondary DNS entries on your TV (unless you’re setting at the router level)

2. Log onto UnoTelly on your PC (or Mac, iPad etc.) and click the Dynamo button

3. Scroll down until you see 'Sony Devices' and select United States:
4. On your TV, go into the network settings and refresh the 'Internet Content'

5. Go to your TV Apps and you should see the Netflix app - at this point I added it to my favourites

6. Repeat the above steps but select United Kingdom to get the BBC iPlayer app (I wasn't sure if Netflix app would disappear after refreshing content whilst pointing at the UK but it stayed!)

Hope this helps someone. Thanks.

I imagine it kept Netflix because that is available in the UK.
If you switch back to the USA BBC iplayer will probably vanish.

This is certainly the case on the Samsung smart TVs

You could probably just set the TV straight to the UK and install Netflix and Iplayer etc.

Good instructions.

I'd assume that at Step 3, if you just selected UK, you could get iPlayer and Netflix at step 5 since both are available in the UK.

Good point - probably just selecting the UK setting would get you both Netflix and iPlayer. I didn't think about that!

Just a minor update to my instructions. In order for the BBC iPlayer to continue to work the Dynomo settings for 'Sony Devices' needs to remain as United Kingdom.

I initially thought it needed the setting to make the iPlayer app available, but it looks like it performs a check each time it's started.
