In the household, there is a demand for more recently released movies, than what Netflix offers.

Amazon Prime seems to provide 'Rentals'.
Anyone using 'Rentals' from Amazon Prime.
If so, do you use a NZ Credit Card (I currently pay for Netflix via Entropay in USD).

Alternatively, anyone using a service which only provides 'Rentals' and can recommend them.

iTunes?

for movies, NZ iTunes it isn't that much different from US iTunes in terms of availability AFAIK.
(sadly, no TV content on NZ iTunes though)

other alternatives - Quickflix, Ezyflix, - both legit NZ services that tend to offer movies on demand same day as DVD release. Quickflix has pretty good device range too.

Not sure whether there is much price difference between NZ and US for these things specifically.

Yep. Ezyflix and VideoEzy

If you have a Samsung TV these are both available in the apps on a Samsung. We regularly rent SD movies through VideoEzy.

We are on VDSL and I have not had any issue in streaming movies to date. I tend to go for the SD rather than HD at moment.

Can recommend it.

edit : I would also say that Netflix and movie rentals offer two completely different services, movie streaming offers the latest movie releases streamed to your house, Netflix offers Tv shows, documentaries, kids tv content and back catalogues of TV series as well as occasional movie releases (we recently watched Boxtrolls on Netflix for example). The movie rentals cost nothing to subscribe but you pay to view on a film by film basis. Netflix is subscription TV. :)

I use Vudu, based in the States, via Unotelly. Came installed on my two Sony Bluray players so just defaulted to that, its pretty good for having the latest releases, and I'm using it with an NZ credit card. You could also look at Google Movies.

We use iTunes for movie rentals. We have the luxury of being able to use an US iTunes account though, which is better with release dates than the NZ one. It's not uncommon to rent movies that are still showing in theatres here.

Amazon Prime here mixed with Netflix. Between the two you cant lose!

Theres a bit of double up on content, but Prime can't match US netflix for tv and vice versa for movies. Basic prime has good selection of movies, then theres the rental's which add even more selection.

Us iTunes and Vudo here. And I can access m-go as well.

All seemed better priced that NZ iTunes or ezyflix/quickflix - pretty similar catalogs between the 3 us services.

Vudo/m-go are accessible on a Roku3 and itunes accessible on an apple tv.

Sometimes the device you have will dictate the services you may try.

Problem with Quickflix is all their stuff seems to be in SD and it's a game of roulette if you try to use a TiVo for PPV movies. You will get charged but may not get the movie. Chromecast method is OK but still SD..

VideoEzy appealed to me when I visited their web site.
However, when back at home, my Samsung TV does not show the VideoEzy app.
I am guessing that this is because my TV is set to the UK region for BBC iPlayer.
Would that be a correct assumption?

My wife has been renting movies from google recently, we chromecast them to the telly. Not sure how 'recent' they are but they seem to have a good selection.

Quite possibly, I guess it may be determined by the TV set up region (EU) as opposed to the DNS setup.
