Just read that the new Star Wars movie is available to stream today via iTunes, and maybe Amazon?
That's 3 or days ahead of the Bluray release date, and an interesting sign of the times.

Sadly bluray rips were available days ago, so not quite early enough I guess.

I don't know if I could bring myself to do that this time around.
This is something I'd like to buy.
Still have thoughts around a bluray compression/audio quality vs a stream. Not sure if I could hear / see the difference, but just know there's a lot of data on a bluray...
Mixed emotions on this movie, in that it was a cool movie, but it was also there to be ripped apart if you think about it.
Dude is powerful enough to freeze a laser gun blast, but is comparatively craptastic later on.
New death star like umpteen times larger than the previous death stars, supposedly built in the remnants of the empire in 30 years or so, that can harvest a whole sun? Really?
New hero masters the force in minutes.
It felt like it paid homage and was a pss take all at the same time.
joker97: Hope it's not like hunger games, the further into the series the lose lousier it got.
the last one was utter rubbish, hated that ending :)
and i wish someone would sleep DRM movie downloads.... it worked for music why cant it work for movies.... You cant play DRM content on a raspberry pi etc. only reason I buy blurays is to rip em to mkv.
iTunes NZ at present is buy only though that should change in a few weeks..

They're not mutually exclusive though. I of course didn't download it ;-) but even if I had I've still seen it 3 times in the cinema (including a fairly expensive midnight vmax screening on opening night) and will definitely still buy the blu-ray.

Ok I might be able to sleep easier with that approach.
Lol I just watched the last Hunger Games a few nights ago. $4 bluray from last remaining video store in Palmy.
I got lost for half of the movie trying to remember what happened previously. Got stuck in is this Hunger Games, Divergent or Maze Runner world?
Not sure how I felt about the ending. Kinda just glad it's over really.
Is there any way to BUY a digital copy of SWTFA (or any movie for that matter)? SWTFA is now available on Google Play and other services to stream, but I want something that my kids can just hit Play with, that isn't tied to my account. I don't have (and don't want) a BR player, as this is just another hardware device to manage, and physical media is prone to damage.
So watching this back again, I really do agree with the comments that this is a modern remake/reboot, rather than a sequel.
And simple things start to irk. It's been a common theme in modern movies to be about the spectacle, and I get that, but they should know a movie in this franchise is going to be pulled apart.
Like how does that sun ray thing fly through space in a straight line, until it gets close to a bunch of planets, and then split off into different directions to hit them all?
I'm confused about the practicalities of a weapon inside a planet. When you've drained the sun, how do you move the planet to another sun? This seems like a one hit wonder of a star base.
On that note though, I'm excited to see the construction of the death star in that Rogue One trailer. That one scene at 0:49 sparked my interest.
Star Wars is not a science textbook. Much like most other sci-fi. Or history books, self help books, or religious books, or other novels.
JJ even said please don't :) (mobiles or low res)
Star Wars is not hard sci fi - it is space fantasy. If you have problems with weapons systems - consider the magical energy that certain individuals can harness. Or their magical light swords (light with mass).
edit: If you think that TFA will be "pulled apart" because of the above I think you are missing the point.
Having said that - I loved the new one. Cool story, cool characters and looked great.

Have you ever watched a star wars movie? :P
There is absolutely no attempt to use legitimate physics at all, and never really has been - right from ANH all the way through to ROTJ and even in both the prequels and now in the most recent, 6th movie, The Force Awakens.
Star Wars is a fun escapist fantasy with space wizards, light speed travel without time dilation, magical powers, and sea battles in space - don't try and make sense of it in real world physics. :)
