One of the most useful things about the Air New Zealand Onesmart card used to be that it was an accepted payment method on iTunes US. This was so much easier than paying a premium for iTunes gift cards.

Now that Air NZ has severed ties with flybuys they have re-issued Onesmart cards.

I have just tried to setup my new card with my itunes account and it fails with "payment method declined".

Has anyone else had any success with the new Air NZ Onesmart card and iTunes US?

I loaded the card number into my US iTunes account without an issue, but haven't tried to actually buy anything.

Edited to add that I checked my iTunes account payment info on my iPad. The new OneCard was saved but it was asking me for the card's security code, which I had already entered yesterday, and when I put it in again, the card got rejected. Annoying.

The new OneSmart card was issued not only because of the end of relationship with FlyBuys, but because Air NZ and BNZ aren't working together anymore (BNZ was the issuer for the original OneSmart).

who is the new issuer?

I just spent over two and a half hours trying to locate a card loading payment where I'd used the "new" bank loading details but the "old" card reference and somehow "lost" $1500 since Sunday.

the "old" onesmart team (BNZ? were fantastic at trying to resolve my issue, even though i was technically a customer leaving their bank, but whoever the "new Transition Team" are they just kept flicking the buck back on the "old" team.... eventually a lovely lady named Suzanna who got me BACK 1/2hour after transferring me to the "new" team phoned the Transition Team herself as she saw the senselessness of my (patient - I WAS after $1,500 of my own money here!) travails although she finally gave up after about 20mins on hold herself(!)

now I await a followup call when her team gets together with the other team to sort it all out \_0_/

Travelex issue the cards. Air NZ simply brand the Travelex product (which is similar to what many banks are doing also).

yep, backward and forwards... 7 different people in 2 1/2 hours... and still no result!

at least the BNZ helpdesk was courteous and friendly, the Travelex one just dumped me ASAP, often before they even understood the problem undecided

The Travelex product is a huge step backwards in many respects, but with Air NZ and BNZ parting ways it's the only obvious solution for them to use. Most of the big banks have all ditched their in house products as well and simply brand the Travelex product with their own logo.

It's kind of an institutional error. The companies come to an end of the terms. So, you are out of luck here buddy.

Same issues for me - terrible transition involving waiting for call to be answered, then transferred 3 times to different team - eventually sorted and funds transferred to new card.

Then card rejected by my US iTunes account when I went to update this so have put money in the account using a iTunes gift card bought online. Need to have money to in account to pay the iCloud monthly fee.

Same problem here, new card won't work with US iTunes.

The setup and migration process is very bad too -- not sure who'd developed the site or tested it but they didn't do a good job.

I'll be transferring all funds out and suspending the OneSmart service, it's now useless to me.

I've used my Onesmart balance to buy itunes gift cards from pcgamesupply.com and will now cancel the card too.

A huge waste of time.

Not sure it was a "huge waste of time". It worked while it worked, so no time wasted really. Move on to the next one - can always get cards from here.

I'm going to cancel mine and get a Kiwibank Loaded For Travel Visa. Their Loaded Everyday debit cards work with Hulu and iTunes but they are phasing those out. Does anyone know what will happen with my air points account? Will I continue to use the OneSmart card just to collect air points?
