I trialed my PS3 streaming Netflix at the beach using 4g Hot-Spot on my mobile this weekend.

Netflix was stable and looked and sounded as good as it does at home on fibre.

My question is how much data will a 1 hour programme use on mobile Hot-Spot on Vodafone 4g?

Instead of worrying about it just get a Skinny Mobile Broadband - $52 gets you 100GB valid for a month. Done.

*Assuming you have Spark coverage at the beach.

I added my little sister to my plan as a sharer.

Just waved good bye to 15GB of data in a day. Streaming uses a LOT of data.

There isnt really a solution to your problem. Maybe use a streaming service on a laptop that lets you cache it.

Netflix lets you set quality settings

Low - 4 hours per GB
Medium - 2 hours per GB
High - 1 hour per gb

I'm not sure if the PS4 app will give you those options

4G certainly slows down over summer in some of the beaches, probably why they can't offer it there!

How far away is your nearest Spark Wi-Fi enabled phone booth..

Or put an AP on the roof and split an ADSL connection with some neighbours? I'd pay $10 a day or something for neighbours Wi-Fi if it was unlimited and allow multiple devices to connect..
