Just set up TV3 for streaming via Chromecast Ultra from iPad, but it buffers so much it is hardly worth using. I am on a fibre 100/20 plan and all other streaming works really well with no buffering ie Netflix, Lightbox, TVNZ.

Anyone else having this problem? Suggestions?

Same problem here. Spark FibreMAX in Auckland. Android to Chromecast Ultra. TV3 is often worse than any other service, but tonight it was pathetic. No solution to offer, except to avoid TV3 until they sort themselves out. Their ad break volume issue is another annoyance.

Big annoyance. Wife and I were watching a series, so dang annoying when Mr Nobody cranks up the volume

To clarify, we were streaming an on-demand episode, not live TV.

Same problems here but I've found the ad volume issue to be worse when watching TVNZ!

Check the complaints on FreeviewNZ FB for a laugh. Similar to these

Pretty clear by the way they promote the online content thats the new ad revenue bringer. Not like you can change channels and go back in 2mins.. Held to stream ransom

How far is the chromecast from your wifi?

Is it likely to be the chromecast not being able to cope with the data stream?

Certainly the first gen Chromecast had a very poor aerial and the signal would drop off very quickly with distance.

If you cast a full HD 1080p video from youtube does that buffer too?

Thanks for your questions.

The Chromecast Ultra is actually connected via (Gigabit) ethernet not wifi, and of all the streaming apps I use (TVNZ, Netflix,Lightbox, YouTube, TV3)  only TV3 is a problem.

Currently on a 100/20 plan with Spark and it hasn't missed a beat - Speedtest consistently shows that the rated speed is achieved with a ping of 2~3ms. LAN switch is Gigabit, cabling is Cat-6, and router plus AP are Grandstream. Speedtest from iPad shows approx 98/19.

As above. Also connected via ethernet. Zero other streaming issues.

Watched a couple of programs over the weekend and it worked well with no buffering evident. Interesting how things seem to fix themselves sometimes.
