After a lengthy period of excellent consistent streaming speeds, my Internet has suddenly gone to hell. It seems to have been getting progressively worse, especially the last few days. Today it was down to around 10 Mbps download, now it has dropped to 5 Mbps. When it goes under about 15 Mbps I start getting buffering issues, though officially that shouldn't happen. This is the worst I have experienced in a long time. Is this just my 4G RBI or is there a wider problem? It doesn't seem like mast congestion since it has also been bad when kids are in school. Normally I get around 25 Mbps or better. My ISP is Netspeed which resells Vodafone. Can anyone shed any light on this?

With the rules and options that are available particularly for wholesale, This doesnt really surprise me..

Increase of "unlimited" plans etc..

That ontop of the fact that VF quite typically run single L700 on rural sites..

At 20mhz 2x2 64/16QAM your getting a max headline speed of 150/50 on paper.

Real world, there is so much more to question..

How many users are at optimal performance for the site? are the an edge user stuck at say 16QAM? - Sure there are options to limit the affect of this, but it's still a toll to take.

I haven't seen any of the LTE signaling messages on VF indicating they have 256QAM support - But even if that's the case you add just shy of another 50mbit maximums.

VF technically could do 4x4, squeeze that up to 300mbit but again, that's more than just a configuration flag. it requires work and support for end user devices..

If i recall your tower setup right, Higher bands aren't really an option, or there is very limited benefits from it.

The next option is possibly looking at splitting a sector but again, might not work out..

Many students have finished for the year as we have one now full time at the place where I work

Have you tried talking to your ISP?

They should be monitoring it.

It would not surprise me if they can't actually monitor that at the RF level and depend upon VF to do that side.

They were not unhelpful previously, but they could not actually do much. I thought it was better to try to collect information here first before approaching them again. I doubt there is anything they can do.

I just checked my speed again at 06:45 and it is back to 'normal', 27 Mbps down, so it must be a congestion issue. Upload speed is still very slow, only 1.74 Mbps. Does this affect normal browsing/streaming use? I am not a gamer.

If this is just congestion again, I sure wish VF would get their act together and do something about it. This has been going on for a very long time and it is not exactly user-friendly.

@Rikkitic Congestion peak time / peak season is going to happen over the holidays and in Hot spots, Capacity is not static and 100's of sites are upgraded per year and it is monitored by the performance team but companies don't have an unlimited budget

If you can move to a fixed line connection xDSL / Fibre if you can't then that is bad for you peak time
