People agree with this? The Stuff site has comments but I never comment on Stuff - I think some of their readers are somewhat uninformed :-)

I hardly watch Netflix at all so can't comment really but I do watch the US one occasionally. The annoying this is that a show like Star Trek Discovery is on NF NZ but not on NF US (CBS All access) so I need to continually switch regions.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Its a word filler exercise. There are great things on Netflix. Especially foreign series. I never have any trouble finding stuff to watch.

ATM I am starting a Belgium? series about a plane that has to fly around the world to avoid the sun, which for some reason is killing everyone. Its well done.

Just finished a Spanish series on a guy who's wife dies, and he goes to alternate realities to try and stop her dying there. He fails. So tries to stop himself meeting her. Well done and thoughtful.

Before that a really great Israel series about a family of Orthodox Jews and their lives, really got me into eating pickles. I loved it. Israel has awesome shows. Fauda. Watch. It. Makes usual action TV feel like a limp biscuit.

There really are heaps of good shows, you just need an open mind to try something different.

To think that the best TV comes from just the USA and the UK is nothing more than enthnocentrism.

I've found some really good series on Netflix here, there's some excellent ones from France and Germany that are well worth watching.  Often the European ones are better than the Hollywood IMO.  Most of them don't have subtitles, they're English spoken, but even with subtitles the ones I've watched have been good enough that you no longer even notice that it's subtitled.

I find NZ Vs US Netflix there are winners and losers.  i.e The Blacklist last season  and Snowpiercer  are on NZ Netflix but not on US  where as items like  The original Twilight Zone are on the US version but not NZ .  There are some more modern movies on the US version as well.

I think it was "What if we never met"

But there are so many others.

The Money Chase Spanish is awesome.

Dark - German, fantastic intellectual time travel show.

Shtsel - the Israeli one about the authodox family

Morocco - Love in times of War. Spanish, turns out in the 1920's Spain had a terrible war in Morocco, that was so bad it affected their national psyche. Who knew?

There's a truck load of European cop shows that are all good as well.

It works that way, but not the other way round: Anything we (Mrs.Neb and I) want to watch isn't on Netflix. If you hunt around on Netflix long enough you eventually find something that's vaguely watchable, but if you specifically want to watch X it's not on Netflix. It's not on Lightbox either. It is on Amazon Prime, but it's not available for watching in NZ.

And they wonder why Pirate Bay is so popular...
