I picked up an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max today from PB Tech, it does most of what I want, however I can't install the TVNZ+ or ThreeNow apps to it, they say "Unavailable" and if check the "what devices support the app" the Stick is listed as good to go.

Is there some trick to getting the apps going ? Some weird DRM going on perhaps ?

Hmm - We have the 'last year' model of the 4k Max and it supports those apps just fine.

Wonder if they need to do something to the app sto make them 'supported' on the newer model?

Try making sure you have all system updates and the restarting it, check again. I seem to recall some weird setup problem that resolved itself next day.

You don't have to do anything special, if it's a AU/NZ version.

Make sure your Amazon account is set to New Zealand and make sure you are not using a VPN or third-party DNS service to access overseas content - or at least make sure the Amazon service is A/NZ or bypassed.

Three and TVNZ+ are available by default and when you setup the stick they are offered for installation.

Ah! thanks!

My Amazon account is old (back from when they were just in the US and I live in the UK .. so maybe 24 years or so?) a bit of a chat with support and him doing some backend editing of my account got it rehomed to AU/NZ as the default.

And now I have working NZ region apps :-)

I may have lost access to some ebook purchases though, i'll worry about that later.
