Obviously can select a higher bit rate from native webpage, but not in the PLP app.

Back on page 96 I think it was couple of people said they could select 3000 on the android app, unless they were getting confused with the native web page?

Galaxy Note 2 - max available 1600 kbps
Transformer TF201 - 3000 kbps

I assumed it was a tablet v phone thing too.

Weird, I'll have another go again later but the option for 3mbps wasn't there for me... I might have been blind and not scrolled down far enough but I'm not normally that dumb!

NonprayingMantis: I think people who are giving their opinions now on pic quality etc (whether good or bad) should also include a few other bits in their post like:

ISP
BB Technology (ADSL/VDSL etc) and sync speed
Viewing method (android app, laptop, TV via HDMI to laptop etc)
whether it was live or one demand, and what time of day you were viewing.

maybe we will see some patterns emerging that can help diagnose if there is a genuine issue somewhere, or whether it is just that people have different expectations....

CPU: i7, GPU: AMD 6800 on a 32' TV, wired
CPU: Core 2 Duo, GPU: Nvidia 8600 on a 40' TV, wireless

This was the last match I watched (Crystal Palace v Tottenham live):

Both computers have no issues streaming HD Youtube content or HD content from the local network. PLP stream constantly buffers at 3000 kbps.

My first attempt on my kids Samsung 10:1 shortly after the app was put up in the store only allowed 1,600 and I complained. A further test after the first weekend of play allowed me to select 3,000 for one of the matches (can't recall which one). So I thought the selection bit had been fixed. But then again last week the Chelsea game only allowed 1,600. Maybe it's game specific?

Actually, I've never tried watching a game live using the app. Only tested it with on-demand content, so that might be a factor.

Ouch. That last one seems very much a lack of bandwidth from the server and 1600 will be getting marginal with movement on any decent sized screen.

If anyone wants to dig deeper, I have been running wireshark with a capture filter to only get tcp dst port 80 and greater than 400 bytes which lets me see the GET requests (frame rate being requested in the URL) and an idea of the retries (same segment requested again) and it is very obvious when it tries the backup server (different destination on the GET). Also every 30 seconds see POST report of packet loss and counts of bytes from the CDN servers in use (for me usually two, one local, one offshore). The POST messages are best seen by post processing the file (I use python script).

If subscriptions are being paid and there are issues which look like they might be CDN performance I would hope that the PLP support process can give some insight. However, they have taken on such a complex issue that some self diagnosis may be needed.

Only 1600 for me yesterday on Galaxy Note 10.1. Didn't look bad but probably not up to driving big screen.

Just testing out on my mum's Galaxy S2, on the sunday review show the highest rate was 1200kbps. and also for the on-demand games looks to be 1200 also. I installed the app on my old IDEOS it doesn't have a sim card in but is connected to wifi but comes up with an error that the phone is offline so won't connect, might have to drop them a line.
the 1200kbps looks fine on the S2 screen.

Just testing this on the weekend's games.

1200 Kbps max on my phone.
1600 Kbps max on my tablet and Android TV stick.

3000 Kbps option nowhere to be seen.

I have seen my s3 do 1600 once.
now the max I get is 1200.

I have a samsung all share cast dongle and it looks crap
when I mirror the game to my 50 inch plasma. (unsurprisingly)

I have mirrored the americas cup online to my tv and its looked
pretty good. I wish plp did the same.

I have been relegated to the office down the other end of the house.

Just tried it on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with the same results. No 3000 Kbps. Couldn't get it to work on the HP Touchpad running Android.
