BigMal: My experience was the opposite on Telecom VDSL as I posted in another thread.

My Android Nexus 5, Roku 3, Chromecast and PS4 would fail more often than not at 25%. My ATV3 and MacBook Pro would playback without failing but couldn't get HD and would regularly have to buffer.

I tried multiple DNS services and VPN services but none solved the problem.

I then requested a static IP from Telecom that DOESN'T go via the proxy cache and now every device works perfectly and they all stream in HD within 30 seconds of the stream starting and I never have buffering issues. It is SUPERB.

Weird how this isn't consistent behaviour with what others get, maybe you already have static IP's that don't go via the proxy cache?

Also I am only on ADSL2+ - no VDSL or Fiber where I am.

A trick you can use with telecom/Vodafone (or any other company that has a transparent proxy)

Don't tell them you having problems with a streaming service like Netflix, Hulu via unblock-us.com etc ...

Tell them you trying to setup opendns.org (A legitimate secondary DNS Service, just like unblock-us, except this one is for Network security). Mention that the ISP's transparent proxy is interfering with the setup to this service. Ask them for a static IP to solve your problem.

To be honest I don't know how you check if your IP is going via the cache. I just researched on geekzone why my Netflix experience was so bad and the overwhelming response was the proxy cache being the issue.

I rung Telecom and requested a static IP that doesn't go via the proxy cache and now everything is flawless and in HD so clearly the cache was the issue for me. However this doesn't explain how other Telecom users don't have this problem.

Adding to that, there's probably some IP range that would identify if your IP goes via the cache or not but I don't know what that range is.
