I would expect to find the same content on Netflix as the sky movies channels. Stuff behind rental and ppv market (so about 6 months to a year old). If you're patient and check all The regions it's a good option.

If you want up to date the us ppv sites are a bit quicker, almost on par with us DVD releases.

I have had netflix for a few years now, and thought the same when I first got it. Not that much new content, but i Have found you have to search for it, they do get some new releases, independent movies usually. I use netflix mainly for their docos, they have some great ones. Great kids section. My 7 year old son could not live without it, he finds it awesome that he can pick his own shows. I use astrill vpn now to access it, has worked flawlessy for a couple of years, staight to super hd in about 20 seconds on vodafone cable.

Our preferred rental shop is in the process of selling all of their stock and closing down. Looks like we'll be doing the online streaming thing now. Expected this to start happening, but hoped it wouldn't be for a while yet! They only charged $5 for a new release so it was a viable option.

Buy some iTunes cards while they're on special. The Warehouse currently has them at $30 for $40 of credit so that's 25% off. iTunes rentals are in-line time-wise with new release physical media and $8 a pop, so with 25% off that's pretty close to what you were spending at your video store plus it's instant and don't have to return it.

to get the best out of netflix you really need to use your unblocking service to switch netflix regions. I've found that Netflix Sweden has an excellent movie catalogue, UK isn't bad either. US netflix does have a vast array of movies but not a great selection of newer release movies, US Netflix's real strength as stated by others is it's TV content, however if you want to view the current popular tv shows as new episodes come out then Hulu Plus is second to none in offerring current season big name shows within a day or two of the episode airing in the US

Ive started looking at the sky movies channels, clicking on the information option to see the plot summary and if interesting then look up the films on Netflix.
Obviuously not work with the newest/latest films but many of the films on sky movies arent new block busters.

Netflix Finland seems to have a good set of content. For example it has Broadchurch, which the US and UK sites don't.

As a new prime member I have been disappointed the amount of content I have gone to play and it's asked me to pay for. Whilst I didn't think everything on Amazon would be free for $99, it's certainly a bunch of content I would expect to find.

I don't really see any value in prime unless you are planning on buying goods from them then you get discounted shipping, otherwise from what I've found Amazon has only a couple of shows that netflix doesn't have, aside from those (like downton abbey) netflix has basically everything amazon does and then some.

Yeah that's fair enough then. I just can't justify having Amazon Prime when I already have Netflix & Hulu Plus and I get Spotify free with my Telecom plan. I do my streaming through the Xbox One and also couldn't stand the Amazon interface, it was unintuitive and just plain unpleasant to use compared to the netflix and hulu interface. The other thing is the content that Amazon wants you to pay for vs the flat fee that netflix and hulu plus charge which gives you all the content. I will admit though I hate that Hulu Plus puts ads in and why they restrict some of their content to web only is beyond me, if I'm paying for a subscription I should get that content that free web users can get.

First world problems right here. It ain't perfect but it sure beats having to rely on SKY and beats quickflix hands down.

Yah I must admit, the Telecom free Spotify thing is awesome.

I like Sky. I do think it's moderately expensive, but if you want access to the range of content it offers, it's certainly hard to beat. Our kids love the TV Channels for them, though they don't watch a huge amount, Sport for Rugby, our whole extended family are around each saturday night to watch Super or test Rugby, food is the biggest pull for me, and
that still leaves me with about 30 channels I never have time to watch. :)

Our daughter has got right into Barney and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse through Netflix so she's covered when we ditch SKY at the end of our contract. Sport is the biggest dilemma once we ditch SKY, still not sure what I'll do there but with SKY Now (UK) app coming out in the near future on Xbox One they have 24 hour access passes for sport so when things come on that I want to watch, assuming that Unotelly will work with it then I'll just buy the access pass and get what I want through that. I wish sky would unbundle sports from the basic package but I'm pretty sure that we will see the loch ness monster riding on flying pigs before we see sky do that.
