Just sent a message. As a two connection household with different ISPs, this would make solve a very real problem for us.

This should be no problem just set the devices DNS servers to the servers in the setup guide and you should be good to go https://dns4me.net/guides

I've been using this for a while now and working well I've been able to play Netflix HD.

The only minor problem I have noticed is with the Roku 3 it seems to have a hard set DNS check in the background that goes to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 if you have a decent router you can hijack these address.

2) you can add your own URLs (upto 20) to unblock and what country you want to make the URLs think your coming from.

thats a very good feature :) in a pinch i use hola for specific sites, but rather pay for a service I can trust more :)

Hi Nebbie

ive just added roku support (needed to correctly create an account in the US) in the services tab under devices, and am in the process of creating a proper how to.

To get netflix working you need to create static routes for 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to a dummy ip on your network, this way the netflix app falls back to the routers DNS

Thanks

We are also planning on adding a hosts file generator, for the super geeks out there who don't want to use our DNS servers we have nothing to hide and dont mind exposing the domain overrides/ips
This should be available in the next week or so.

Thanks

Like the idea of a hosts generator.
Just unsure if it's slower using your DNS for normal browsing?

DarkShadow: OK. When you add servers in the future, first interest for me would be Hong Kong and second interest would be for China.

Hi DarkShadow,

I will look into china servers im not sure if there might be issues getting good connections to the mainland, can you recommend some good services that i could unlock?

Thanks

Hi Dean

Using the hosts file should be faster than my DNS servers as all the lookups are resolved locally.

I believe dd-wrt is just a linux based routing platform, so you should be able to use the same format and just add the entries to /etc/hosts (I cant confirm this though as I don't have a dd-wrt based router)

Also the hosts file generator is now live under the user console menu :)

Hi PhantomNVD

Glad your enjoying the service, from what i have been told lightbox is only going to have a fraction of the amount of content that netflix has (and will probably cost more), if i was you I would stick to the big 3 (netflix/Hulu/Amazon)

Thanks

For all those using dns4me, we have added a NZ dns server to ensure you get access to the local CDNs
To use it just set your primary DNS to 101.98.11.156 and enjoy fast browsing while getting the benefits of the unlocked international services available from dns4me.

Please note, this server doesn't support the dns logger on the dns4me platform (it will soon), and we haven't had a chance to update our guides to include it.

Thanks

I've been using this service for quite a while and I'll definitely be paying for it once it goes public (as long as the prices aren't too high).

There are a couple of nagging tidbits though:
1) the website doesn't have persistent sessions so I have to keep logging in again and again every time I go to update my ip address.
2) this is more of a feature request, can you make it so we can select a zone that auto updates so that when the ip address changes instead of displaying that unknown ip address page it will auto update the selected zone. I do expect people to be logged in for this to work (hence the first request above).

I think those features would be quite useful to someone who only uses one zone on a regular basis (e.g at home) and uses the other zones for when they travel, go to a friends house, etc. They are quite easy to implement and would take away so much hassle for me so I can get straight to watching movies on my devices (as some devices don't have physical keyboards so it's a pain to log in and update ip address).

Hi charsleysa

Thanks for the Feedback, the site does have persistent sessions but the session timeout is probably a bit low, I think we can pretty easily fix this.
As for the IP zone auto update, this could be added, is there any reason you don't use a dynamic dns, just set the dynamic dns domain in the zone and you never have to update your zone again.

Thanks
Jason k

FYI the price will be under $3 AUD, and a big thanks to every one on geekzone that's been helping out.
