From the other thread:

lchiu7: Anyway after getting the app on the phone when I start it up it and choose Start Your Free Trial with iTunes I get an error Regrant failed, please purchase the software application first at which point in time I gave up in case I broke her phone :-(

That's because you're signed into iTunes with an NZ account instead of a US one.

The more time I spend with HBO Now, the more I feel the content 'just isn't there'.
The library is a bit small, especially compared to US Netflix.
Basically, I think I'll be using it until the end of Game Of Thrones S5.
Then... I'll look elsewhere.

In the meanwhile, it's time to binge-watch a few series and make the most of it.

Behodar:
psychnurse: Is it just the same as HBO Go?

No; it's a standalone service that doesn't require a pay-TV subscription.

Sorry I meant the content?

I'm watching it now on my HTPC.  I really like the content - I see it as a replacement to Hulu rather than Netflix.  Definitely worth the $15 per month IMHO.

This is just the same as HBO Nordic https://se.hbonordic.com/ which has been around for awhile now. Was okay for awhile but the content you get for the price isn't worth it. Huluplus is far better.

HBO Nordic works out at $12 NZD a month, so you can save yourself $3....

I had a look last night and agree with others that its possibly not the best value for money. There is a lack of content as its only a single provider where as the likes of Hulu and Netflix have access to multiple providers shows.

I'll watch for the month but will probably cancel as I don't think I'll get $15+ value when compared to my other US services.

Really? Which country? For HBO Nordic Norway you pay 99 NOK per month, which is about NZD $16.30 per month. Still saving about $3 NZD (Not sure how you calculated). HBO Now in the US is $19.87 NZD at the moment.

EDIT: Ups, sorry. its 79 NOK per month. So $12.99 NZD. So I would actually be saving money signing up for HBO Nordic instead of Now. Hmm...

Signed up with my US iTunes account just fine, but can confirm that currently, Slingshot Global Mode does not currently work with the service - I get a "Stream not available" error on my Apple TV and a more straightforward "Service not available in your location" when using through my browser.

US itunes gift cards, there are many sellers online. I use http://www.buyfrompowerseller.com/ myself but there are plenty of others.

We have our US iTunes account paired with our Air New Zealand OneSmart card.

What is interesting is that if we forget to top up our US wallet, we can still rent a movie. Apple simply won't let us rent another one until our payment details have been updated once we remember to put more money on the card.
