Installed Unified Remote last night and works amazingly well. I've used software remotes before and have never been impressed. Though the key to making this work effectively was turning off all security on the tablet, so hitting the power button goes straight to the remote (assuming it's open). This is okay as the tablet it's installed on almost never leaves the house any more. It would be hopeless if you had to punch in a security code before pausing or rewinding.

Tonight's project: seeing if I can get the pebble app for it working.

The cheap Digitech remote I bought was driving me nuts. Hold it wrong and it blocks the signal. Half the time it is really laggy, so you push the button again (thinking I was holding it wrong) and then undo whatever you were trying to do as both button presses register. Not recommended.

You could also add a USB-UIRT as well to control your AMP and TV, Unified Remote has a built in learning  remote for this.
