freitasm: I use my Air New Zealand OneSmart card.

Mine never works. Do you have any suggestions as to why? It states it is not a US based card.

reven:that's why I only bought one from a seller with high feedback.  its just the grey market, I buy lots of games that way.  People buy things cheap (I'm sure hulu do discounts on these things through Target, black fridays etc) people then sell these for more but still at great discounts.

I hope you're right! I got mine from a Texas seller with about 400 feedbacks, 99.5% positive, going back a year. Fingers crossed all is okay.

I'm assuming you have a US wallet set up on it with credit in it?

embarassed Have a US wallet but haven't checked it in a while, it has only 2¢! Will try again. "Credit or debit cards must be issued by a U.S. - based institution" was confusing me and I thought the card couldn't be used at all...

If you look on Google, the EBay deal is to good to be true as it is a money laundering scam, they steal credit card numbers, buy the vouchers from Hulu sell on EBay to get cash.  Once Hulu pick's up that the credit cards are stolen they cancel the Hulu vouchers and then lock the Hulu account.  It did the rounds a few years back as well.  It is like an other scam of selling a life time  subscription to Netflix, it does not happen.

In the end it is buyer be ware.

Ah well, if they lock my account I'll just explain that I thought it was a genuine sale and ask them to keep charging my OneCard instead. Lesson learned. So glad I paid for the gift card with PayPal and not my actual credit card!

I'm in the same boat - ie, I became aware of the likely (guaranteed?) dodgy nature of the deal only after purchasing the card.

I directly questioned the guy I bought mine from, saying that after I purchased it I was warned it was a likely scam and so what could he do to provide evidence his sale was legit? I didn't get a direct reply to this question, but he acknowledged a couple of those he'd sold the cards to had had them cancelled by Hulu, so he'd stopped selling them.

That he had earlier asked me to apply the code ASAP and get back directly to him should there be any issues suggests he knew it was dodgy!

I feel a bit foolish and somewhat guilty now. If I could un-redeem the code, I would. Oh well, I will wait and see what happens, and never buy one again.

But, for the OP, if they are able to buy genuine ones through Target or Walmart with a non-US credit card, then that would be the way to go (assuming lack of OneSmart card as an alternative).

That's strange, my Kiwibank Visa still seems to be working fine on Hulu.

I tried an ASB Visa recently (when I changed from using an iTunes subscription to paying by credit card) and it rejected it. Had to use the OneSmart card instead.

The OneSmart is a Mastercard. Maybe it's a merchant thing?

Hahahaha just saw that as well.
I started to get a bit worried after buying the code but before getting it, I even looked into paypal to see if I could get a refund.
In the end I used the code on a new Hulu account with no payment details on the account.

So I still have my real one (which I will put on hold at end of this month) and this other one that has 8 months worth of credit on it from the voucher.

What a good idea. Hopefully if the worst happens, Hulu will accept that I was naive enough to think that my purchase was genuine (and I can provide them with my Ebay records to show that it wasn't me who stole the credit card) and reinstate my account. Otherwise I will make a new one under a different email address.

I just tried it again. Hulu won't accept my OneSmart card. Ah well, will just go somewhere else for content I guess, doesn't bother me.
