I think Netflix move into original content is its only way forward looking at how the networks are now circling the wagons around their content by holding out on the likes of Netflix and Hulu with much longer lead times to making the content available. I expect this to shift even further to a time where networks just won't make content available to external companies at all.
I think we have to accept that if you want all the content, you will have to pony up for all of the subscriptions. Not the best outcome but he who owns the content gets to decide how its distributed.
I already have subscriptions to Hulu, Netflix, Amazon and Showtime to get the content I want plus some additional torrenting for content that isn't available to stream without a cable subscription - or paying through the nose for individual seasons. So much for cord cutting and unbundling cable, all we ended up with is format shifting to internet streaming.
