Stu1: sorry guys dumb question can I set up muiltple apple ids so I can get UK, nz and us apps without an iPhone or iPad, I read that its best to do it out of apple TV as I would need a us credit card?

Yes you can. You also don't need to supply credit card details. The trick is to not be signed into the iTunes store for the country you're interested, and then attempt to download a free app. It'll prompt you to create an account, and when asking for payment details there will be an option to not supply any credit card.

Also, if you have a gmail address, you can use the <username>+<identifier>@gmail.com trick to use a unique email address. For example, if your email address is joebloggs@gmail.com, you could have joebloggs+us@gmail.com, joebloggs+uk@email.com  and so on. All email will go to your joebloggs@gmail.com account, but iTunes will see them as unique email addresses.

Yup, totally correct. You can set up accounts for any region you want apps from. I use my YouShop address and phone number for US/UK and the holiday home we rented in Australia a couple of years ago. If you do want to be able to buy apps from US/UK, my Air NZ OneSmart debit MasterCard works for mine. I used Outlook.com email - you can set up aliases from one main account so I set the aliases with AUS or UK in the name and used those for each iTunes account. The ATV4 lets you log in with each iTunes account and then switch from one to the other with one click, and it remembers them all. All the different region's apps will sit together on your home screen so you don't need to change regions to switch from one to the other. It's awesome.

I don't think you'll regret it. The other thing I like is that my Harmony remote works with it. I have a Chromecast too, but I prefer the ATV.

Before the AirPlay functionality was announced I successfully cast TVNZ OnDemand from a tab in the Chrome browser on my Mac, so I can confirm it works with Chromecast. I haven't tried AirPlaying from a computer though.
