thanks i worked it out.
Anybody got it working to a Chromecast yet? I want to try but I can't find mine :-(
[EDIT]
Answering my own question. I found my Chromecast and it works fine. I will wait for my one month trial to end and pay for one month and get a second gen Chromecast
This is NBC streaming live in the early morning I guess?
Apart from only 2.0 audio and 720p this could be a goer for me. I am streaming from a Nexus 4 which is spare. Beats paying for cable TV I think.

Since nobody else has commented I will add an update.
Have been using it for about 2 weeks now. Even on a Chromecast 1 the PQ is pretty good - 720p at least which is as as good the US broadcast TV.
Issues so far
1. takes a while to change channels but that is the Chromecast 1 limitation. If you sign up for one month Google will give you a Chromecast
2. 2.0 audio only. Since Google Play movies supports 5.1 on a Chromecast I tried plugging my Chromecast into my AVR instead of the TV. But still 2.0 audio. I had this confirmed with a Google tech in a online chat session where they Google is always looking to improve the Youtube experience
3. No background channels like Food (Cooking in the US), news show etc. So there is no channel you can leave running as background
4. Have to use a VPN - not supported by any proxy server yet. But the VPN I am using (in the router) hardly has any impact on download speeds so that is not a big deal.
What I have done is recorded all the evening news shows and the morning new programmes (viz. NBC Today, CBS This Morning and ABC Good Morning America) and then when I get up they are all available to watch. US centric news to be sure but it's easier to watch than the TV1 or TV3 morning shows.
I also have set the DVR to record pretty much all prime time shows since there is no limit to what you can record and they stay around for 9 months. So there are always US primetime shows to watch if I want.
Will I ditch my cable TV and just use Freeview and this? Not sure yet but I am tempted given how much Vodafone Cable TV provides and the quality of the programming.
