I've used Jerry Cards in the past. Recently I just ask my US based friend to email me a gift voucher :)

I hinted to my US mates in our daily Skype chat, but they didn't connect the dots. Didn't really want to inconvenience them :-)

My mate just sends me a $100 voucher every year. It lasts me for a whole year. I only use it on renting movies, though. Jerry cards are a bit expensive but they definitely work.

We subscribe to both HBO & Hulu, so we use USD $188 per year just for that. We also occasionally rent movies.

I also have a nagging concern of a crackdown on US iTunes account, resulting in instant cancellation and loss of all credit.

About a year ago I bought a US iTunes voucher and created a US iTunes account to download a movie that was only available in the USA.

Just the other day I logged in to download the movie to my computer and when I clicked download it says the account is disabled and to contact Apple support. I'm not sure why the account is disabled but I was wondering if Apple is just suspicious of accounts that have no payment method and only use vouchers.

I've had a US iTunes for about 5 years now and only ever used vouchers, never been a problem and I doubt they care as the Apple ecosystem is so closed they could easily track my multiple zoned accounts to the same phone downloading the content in one place.

Remember, you have to 'activate' each Apple device when first booting up, so they definitely have your full phone IMEI and such, but happily allow a multitude of iTunes and iCloud accounts on the same device....
They make the same money wherever you are, and if the FBI can't 'force' them to disclose info, I'd say they don't tell anyone else the number of 'offenders' and RIAA et al have no way to cry wolf 😉

After purchasing US iTunes cards for a while through www.wildtwig.com I came across another simpler & cheaper solution.

Of course US iTunes accounts won't let you attach your NZ credit card to them, but some clever cookie worked out that you could attach an Air NZ OneSmart debit card to a US iTunes account (once you'd loaded some money into a $US 'wallet').

I've successfully used this method for a few years, but now that Air NZ have changed away from using BNZ for this service & re-issued cards i'll need to set it up again (and hope that it continues to work).

I'm guessing there's a good chance it'd work with other multi-wallet travel cards (eg. Cash Passport)

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

The new OneSmart cards don't work with US iTunes. I tried a Loaded For Travel card instead and that didn't work either.

Be a little careful there (if you've done it recently)
I had this and it rejected my card, called up the bank and they said the block had been removed- and then Apple reprocessed the payment so I ended up with a few vouchers.

But I use Offgamers.com, they have good prices and have been using without issue for a couple of years now

Have just purchased a voucher from them. The verification process was a bit painful but their tech support is without doubt the best I have ever dealt with. Over the weekend, I was getting responses within 1-2 minutes every time. Unreal.

Thanks jnimmo!

OffGamers are selling below cost at the moment - $50 USD for $48 (plus $1.58 processing fee)

I used to be able to purchase US iTunes vouchers directly from Apple, and have the code emailed to me minutes later. But they are now rejecting the credit card I used to use to pay for this.

Where you you all buy your US iTunes credit from? There are a myriad of sites out there offering it, but they all look dodgy as.

It's still possible.  The new system uses AVS (or similar) to match the billing address in iTunes with your card.  Luckily it's only a partial match so if you set the US iTunes account billing address to have a the same street number and zip/post code as your NZ card you may be OK.  I have a new OneSmart card with USD loaded, I found a US ZIP code with the same last 4 digits and a leading zero and the payment was accepted.

That works with the US iTunes Store but not with iTunes directly so it's a 2-step solution which may be less appealing than purchasing form another site but I'll keep trying.

Cheers, McD
