I've got one of these:

It's got all the usual media buttons (play, pause, fast forward, reverse, etc), a full keayboard and a trackpad if I want to use it as a mouse. Works great with my Pi and has a rechargable battery that last for months and months between charges. Also comes in very handy if you need to work in Linux on the Pi.

Those remotes look quiet good. Do they work through bluetooth?

When I need to work in Linux, I just ssh into the device via putty on my laptop. Works like a treat.

That's what I do also and if I need to edit files or transfer or move files around, I use Winscp so I don't have to deal with command line editors :-)

That looks identical to the palm-sized remote I have. Works very well.

I have not looked closely, but I would be worried about that aliexpress unit working with Linux. It did not look like it mentioned it, so you may have driver issues, unless you have seen it recommended elsewhere?

Well it was only US$4 so if it doesn't work then it's not a huge loss.

But good point. I do have a wireless Logitech keyboard that works fine out of the box but I presume the Linux distros support them as they are so common.

Yeah it comes with a little receiver that plugs into a USB port on the Pi, I assume it's Bluetooth.

Just to answer my own post. The item arrived from China and once I located some batteries for the remote (the manual says 2 AAA while it actually took possibly a 2032 which I had lying around and plugged it in, it worked fine. But the remote signal is pretty weak so you have to aim it at the receiver quite precisely. But once I learnt the key commands (left/right/up/down/play/pause/OK/Exit) on my Harmony One it works really well. I am happy with the $4 investment.
