For all of you who have this what are you watching and are there enough things on it to bother paying for this service?

Here is my Quic referral https://account.quic.nz/refer/39513 if you are keen to change ISP and to get free setup (save $29). I will get a $50 credit if you use this.  Thank you very much if you use my link but I'm sure there are quite a few others who could share the same on here, no hard feelings if you use a different link.

I've only watched 'For All Mankind' which is an alternative history / future of the space-race where the russians beat the americans to the moon.

The first three episodes have been good so far and it will be interesting to see how long they will be able this story line going... does it become like:

  1. 'The Americans'. A cold-war drama with bits of 'The Right Stuff' to add spice
  2. 'The Man in the High Castle'. Without bits of 'The Time Tunnel' that being used to beef up the flagging scripts
  3. A confusing mixture of the above that nobody understands or cares about?

I have signed up for the 1 week free trial. There is next to nothing available yet, but the main shows they have started with are pretty good - See and The Morning Show.

Will I pay after this week? Not sure. I may for a month or so and see what else gets released.

What I find a bit annoying with it though, is they show both included shows and movies you have to pay for, all in the same area. So until you click on the show, you don't know if you have to pay extra to watch it or not.

The actual system itself has worked flawlessly - but I guess you expect that with Apple products.

I've watched the 3 episodes of The Morning Show and See and they are great, very entertaining. The critics reviews were bad so I was surprised by how good they are. A quick search on the internet pretty much agrees with what I think. Critics have panned the shows but actual viewers are raving about the shows. I highly recommend it. Fortunately we just purchased an new iPad so we get the sub free for one year.

I haven’t signed up for it. Was reading they have 9 shows. Will wait for more.

Having it mixed in with paid content, and not separated doesn’t sound good from guyl post.

My initial thoughts:

Technologically, very impressive quality. The shows so far are ok. Product placement in The Morning Show (five placements within the first five minutes) had me considering insta-delete.

Re: their pricing/platform model:

Netflix has set a standard. All you can eat for $x per month.

Apple Music/Spotify reminded us of that standard with all you can eat music for $x per month.

If I had actually paid (and not inherited a free year thanks to buying Apple gear), I would have been more devastated to see a mixture of rent this and buy that amongst the sparse selection of items that were available to stream from day one. I am categorically not interested in subscribing to any streaming service where it is not set and forget / all you can eat. So, that is definitely not a good trend that I want to see being expanded on / continued.

Watched the first episode of 'See' last night. It's interesting to learn that generations from now, the blind population of the US will naturally begin to perform the haka.

Yes thought that as well. Haven't bothered watching any more of them. The writers have been watching too much All blacks rugby.

The only show from that list that I'd be interested in is Snoopy In Space.

Surprisingly I'm enjoying The Morning Show. Couldn't really get into For All Mankind tho. Didn't even finish the 1st ep.

It feels like someone at Apple basically had a mandate that they had to launch before Disney+.

First episode of See was Ok but the second almost sent me to sleep. Will give episode 3 a try and if it doesn't pick up that'll be it. I enjoyed episode 1 of the morning show as well, haven't watched any others as yet. I got a year free for buying something (not sure what as I brought a iPhone 11 Pro, Watch 5 and another ATV all within a month or two).

Its free so I'll keep it for at least a year.

Yeah, although in the long term I could see Apple making a play for Disney, especially as Apple are very open about moving from Hardware into "service delivery"
