The problem will be fragmentation, so SparkSport has $30-40 and SSNow has $40, then those providers are missing x sport you watch, so let's conservatively say $15 a month for that....

That's the same issue with the Netflix's of this world. So we can either pay for more services or as many here seem to do, get one for a period, can that and get the other.

$15 a month, yes that would be ideal, $15 to $20 each, but that wont happen as fragmentation means that we ideally want to pay for one service, or half each foir two services, but we will in fact be paying for two CEO's two of everything, and off course two margins

If you like one summer sport and one winter sport you will be ok :-)

Surely if spark sport managed to get more rights like super rugby, all blacks games, nrl then the cost of subscription must go up to cover costs of the rights.  How much is everyone happy to pay monthly for all the new content?  Or they would make you pay separately for each package like super rugby package, all blacks package, nrl package, etc.

Very good question.  I find Kayo fascinating.  A sports streaming service of high quality with plenty of content at an attractive price.  Sounds like nirvana.

And yet it lost 32,000 subscribers in the last quarter.  At a time, early in its business stages, that should be all growth.  And in a market that has scale efficiencies that dwarf NZ.  Meanwhile Foxtel continues to struggle financially.  The great sports streaming hope doesnt look so hopeful anymore.

If thats a blueprint for NZ that people hold up as an example then its a tough road to hoe for either Spark or Sky or both.

Might that churn be " season finished, cancelling now"  ?

Across the summer with cricket (Australias national game) on Kayo?  Doubtful.  But if it is then the monthly charge across just a season has to cover a full years costs - try doing the math on that one and it'll make your eyes water on long term viability.

Yes, I agree. Many here seem to flit in and out with SkySportNow, and thats possibly exacerbated by those that churned from Sky to SSN. A double hit. With fragmentation in NZ sports services, that's more likely to see season flit in and out activity. Time will tell

Maybe streaming isn't as viable an option in Australia, compared to here, given their internet speeds/services aren't that great compared to ours

I was skimming through complaints of performance issues on the Whirlpool forums, compared with me who has to use a VPN to access the service I've never had a single issue with Kayo

I haven't had a good look at SSN but Kayo is streets ahead of any other sports streaming service I've tried otherwise.

I hope it doesn't fold, that would be a terrible shame.

Agreed. I use it for Darts and BBL predominantly.

I've had constant issues with Sky from missing a day of a multi day darts event, to not configuring series link properly (or at all) on multi day darts events. So Kayo has come in handy for watching it when I want without missing things.
