Dingbatt:

So, if you’ve already paid your annual fee, what happens on 23 Mar? Do you have to stump up an extra $30 (or prorated amount), or will that be from the next renewal? My assumption is that I have already paid for 12 months of Disney+ in advance and so will only suffer the increase from December next year if I’m reading the announcement correctly.

That  would be my guess as well.

I’ll wait until early March, then maybe buy the one year one if still $100.  Around 33% is a big price raise.

Star maybe included with Disney but I do not consider it a free add on now.

The way I read it, you will need to do it prior to 23 Feb.

Interesting, as I read this today:

The current Disney+ price will be honoured for 6 months in Europe, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

https://whatsondisneyplus.com/disney-to-add-star-content-in-europe-australia-canada-new-zealand/

I guess that could mean if you're a current subscriber as of the time of the increase you'll not be subject to it for a period of six months... That was kinda how the last Netflix increase worked, as I recall it didn't hit us for 3-4 months. That makes sense for monthly subscribers, but what if an annual sub comes up in that period - would they let you renew that at the earlier rate? Doubt it...

Anyway, I'd certainly look at locking in an annual sub prior to the increases once we've got a better idea of content, as it may well be a decent deal at $100.

I don’t have Disney sub yet, but looks like Legends (2014) is on Disney plus, being drip feed. Two episodes there at moment according to Just Watch.

Put it here as from looking at the preview, it looks like it belongs more under the Stars, though I think they have it under Marvel.

Hopefully more like that come out, Even though came out 6 years ago haven’t seen it.

So, has anyone found out more re Star’s introduction here as to content and how it’ll work for existing annual subscribers?

While we’ve got free access for a couple of months, I’m still wondering whether it’s worth paying an annual sub prior to 23 Feb to beat the price rise, but I’ve seen no further info on content. This was from earlier in December:

Adding Star as the sixth pillar of Disney+ is a huge boost to the streaming service, with thousands of more episodes and hundreds of movies, including titles such as Marvel’s Logan and Deadpool, ABC shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, FX shows and many Hulu Originals.  There will also be 20th Century Studios movies such as Die Hard, Aliens, Kingsman and much more.

I think I’ll email them to confirm re annual subs taken out prior to 23 Feb...

Yep, those two episodes are there (and under Marvel, noting Stars isn’t an option at this point). They are only a few minutes long, however (seven and six minutes respectively).

I don't think you can stack subscriptions with Disney+, so if your renewal date is after the price increase, you'll be out of luck (as will I).

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Weird that they are seven and six minutes. Maybe I’m looking at wrong program.

iMBD has first episode at 45 minutes.

And at Botton of page under technical specs:

Runtime:

45 min

I haven’t got subscription at moment, possibly looking around 10 Feb. I’ll take a punt and go for the one year again.

This Legends appears to be different. It is a quick summary of different marvel heroes and vilians ( I assume for background before the various marvel series).
The first two episodes are Wanda Maximoff and Vision

And I can confirm that, after a painful 40 minutes of online chat, that any annual sub taken out before the price rise/intro of Star will not be charged extra until the next renewal (man, it took them a long time to understand the question!)

Those with monthly subs taken out before the price increase will have the $10 monthly charge grandparented for six months. So the worst off will def be those whose annual sub expires sometime after 23 Feb...

Thanks. Just Watch is showing two episodes, and then giving preview of 2014 and info on that one, not the newly made one. All cleared up thanks.

Jonathan18, thanks for letting know how subs taken before the date will be treated.
