I had Acorn on my OLED Sony Tv (before it died and was replaced under warranty with the top end Panny). I went to the play store on a normal browser on my pc and logged in. Search Acorn TV. There will be 2 versions one is for phones and one android tv. If you try install the right one it should find the tv the other one will not. Again without the model of the tv I are unsure if you have a compatible tv or not.

https://play.google.com/store/search?q=acorn%20android%20tv&c=apps&hl=en

You can

- cast from your phone with the Acorn app installed to a Chromecast dongle (or Chromecast built-in if tv has it). Cost for dongle about $60

- buy the Chromecast with google TV from Dick Smith Aussie. This gives you an app screen you install from inc Acorn as I added it. So far I'm happy. Cost about $130

- buy any android box for TVs. I went for the Nvidea Shield but this is an expensive option but a very very good one. Then again install from screen or playstore. Cost about $150-$400

PS I have about 6 Chromecast Ultra on tv, Nivdea Shield on the OLED Panny, Chromecast with Google Tv on the Study TV and 2 Goggle hubs plonked about the house. So yeah I play with this a bit.

Hi Quinny,
Thanks for the info. I'm not very familiar with smart phones, adroids apps etc.
Chrome/casting are foreign terms, but I'm ok to read/learn etc. Do I need one ?

I think (bar actually logging in a and clicking play) I may be there with Acorn.

You do not need a Chromecast if the app is available on Android TV. The Chromecase is a device that you plug into DUMB TVs so that you can watch streaming content, managed from your phone.

Your TV has an app for Acorn already so a Chromecast is not needed.
