A quick glance through the lists above doesn't send my heart aflutter,  and we already struggle to find the time to watch what we want to see on existing services. But given we already tend to subscribe to Disney+ for a few months a year already (typically school holidays), and there's some stuff there the older kid would watch, it could be worth it, and if so then locking it in at the current price makes sense.

They're also holding the current price for six months for those paying monthly, but it needs to be a current sub as of the time of Star's launch.

Their website has an image showing how it'll look on the app's home screen - as they've mentioned previously it's just a new 'hub' (but one that can be password protected, I think):

I just want to watch Agents of SHIELD S06 and S07.  TVNZ had the earlier seasons, but not these two, and they are not on any NZ streaming service.  D+ only has S01 in NZ.  Had hoped they may appear with Star, but no.

I renewed my annual sub back in November so I'll be good until this coming November. After that it's a $30/year ($2.50/month) increase - given the amount of content there, I'm ok with that :-)

I’m still on the fence as to grabbing an annual sub before the cost goes up later in the month.

Are there any series on that list that anyone thinks of as ‘must watch’ content? (eg, like The Sopranos, The Wire...) Just looking for that nudge to get me to commit!

Unless you are seeing 12 months worth of content, you could just grab the monthly sub then? That is my plan, then keep it until either I lose interest or the price increase in 6 months rolls around.

There is not a whole lot I am seeing there that is must-watch ATM, but hopefully once existing distribution deals expire with the likes of Neon or Sky, we will see more quality content. I refuse to pay for Neon with their sub-standard streaming quality and stereo sound.

If you want to watch Marvel movies, Marvel series, The Mandalorian you might as well get the yearly sub and start now before the Star comes out.

With the exception of a few series, much seems to have been copied from the offerings of Hulu, so much so I have cancelled my subscription. I may even look at stopping dns4me altogether as Disney+, NZ Netflix and Neon seem to have most things covered.

If only Neon would open the door to the 21st century with 5.1 sound

Which is possible. There were rumours a few months back that Hulu could expand outside the USA but since Disney owns Hulu there would be some overlap. I am not sure you'd get the "next day" streaming for new episodes though - I have now asked Disney PR.

That probably explains why the 9-1-1 series just vanished from Threenow

Guess means prob not likely to see updates for Station19 too. Hope they don't rob too many rights off the local broadcasters.

I hope that they take them all off them so they go on a decent performing platform without ad's vs the trashfire that is current local on demand offerings.

Oh, you can still see ad-less/when you want of course from the local ODs. But the fact they don't stick around like a full catalogue and only have 3 weeks for each ep in some cases is a PITA.

I sure hope that doesn't happen to too many programmes - it's somewhat of an unreasonable assumption that everyone should need to find the money to pay for content; many people simply can't afford to pay for SVOD services, and free VOD plays an important role in providing content to those.

And while TV3's interface isn't great, I'm impressed with both the interface and content of TVNZ's VOD service (and can see the improvements make sense if they are indeed moving towards adding an ad-free SVOD version). That said, video quality can be a bit hit-and-miss - seems like bitrate may be fairly low, going by the banding in dark scenes.

So the 23rd has rolled around and Star hasn’t appeared on my Disney+ App. Therefore I assume the 23rd actually means ‘US time’, so 9pm.
