I'm sorry but I fail to see the reason for a VPN for the Apple TV - it can still stream content from a local iTunes library, and the easiest way to get content into iTunes that isn't available in NZ, is to buy US iTunes vouchers and create a US iTunes account.  I have done this and it works great, the amount of shows and movies is just incredible compared to the poor NZ store, and there is a ton of content in HD.

Then when it's downloaded to iTunes, it can be watched on Apple TV.

If you want to watch it streaming, the same applies - because the Apple TV needs a iTunes account to stream (it's written on the requirements page) you can just use a US account.

And as someone mentioned, you need a router or such device that can present a VPN to the entire network, of which there are very few (one was mentioned on geekzone this week in another thread but I cannot find it).

Ah - that's different! ;-)

Question then, do the other firmwares available for Apple TV (the old one obviously) allow 'dialing' a VPN connection from the unit? (Much like TunerFreeMCE can do for Media Centre)?  THAT would be cool.

Hi there

I just got my Apple TV today - loving it like a loving thing.

Just thought I would ask you how I go about buying US iTunes vouchers and setting up an US iTunes account, please.

Thanks
