But I need a dvr solution now... shame igloo can't record

See if you can find anyone willing to sell you a tivo. There are some other PVRs, some noname brands and some branded ones, but they can get pricey.

They said they were looking at an app, but at this stage it's just through airplay.

I read they have signed up with the same software company that makes the website and apps etc for NBA and NHL season passes. Not sure about NHL, but I know there is an NBA league pass app for Apple TV. So one would hope it wouldn't take too much to produce an EPL app for Apple TV as well.

But what's the approval process needed?  Unless an app store comes, I don't know how much drive apple will have to add an app like this...especially if it's currently restricted to NZ.

Not sure if this was discussed in the prvious 22 pages, but I read yesterday that if you use telecom as your BB provider, they maybe offering a special discounted EPL subscription, as well as unmetered traffic. Not sure how true that is.

They haven't been in contact officially with providers to offer unlimited. But, Slingshot has come out and said that they will unmeter it.
I expect others to follow (especially if this CDN is NZ based)

arnies,

It would have to be? If it wasn't then speed issues would surely arise which wouldn't be a good look.

So hypothetically if Colosseum persuaded apple to include  premier league pass app for appletv we would need to switch off the unblock-us dns service to get it in nz ?

I don't think so. Unblock us only targets specific sites/apps? The new app should be unaffected and follow default location...

Is that because TiVo is still the best option/value?

Ok. Just asking because I noticed we lost the quickflix app from the sony bravia when we switched to unblock-us dns .

I wouldn't be surprised if switching from the US store option (iTunes account option in Apple TV settings) to NZ you'd loose Netflix in exchange for NZ-only apps.

I'm under the impression with Apple TV that "Apple approach you..." not the other way around at present.

Then again, if they are using a company that has already produced apps for Apple TV, that might open the door.

Apple need to open an App store for Apple TV fast - I'm sure Quickflix, Mediaworks & TVNZ would have on-demand apps in there quickly...

Roku are open for "channel" development but I understand that there is no NZ-region option at present.

I know! I have been in this camp for ever! I wonder what stops them? They should release a better ATV (in terms of specs), keeping the price the same (this is critical) or build a Freeview version for NZ (Tui billboard anyone) and then open the app store to games and on demand tv content.... the games thing would poss kill Ouya...
