I could be wrong about that, but I recall reading that price somewhere.

Ahh - found it

https://hospitality.org.nz/news/spark-sport-partner-with-sky-to-show-rugby-world-cup-2019

$999+ GST for licensed premises (bars and clubs)

$299 + GST for hotels/motels (up to 60 rooms), $5+ GST extra per room above 60 rooms.

My local chartered club installed Spark Sport for the RWC over this weekend. I have just looked at the match times and most of them are after the club has closed. Now I see that we could have just used the Sky pop-up channel. The mind boggles at the lack of communication and transparency over this.

However, the Sale and Supply of Alcohol (Rugby World Cup 2019 Extended Trading Hours) Amendment Act 2019 allows your club to stay open and sell booze during the RWC matches

Edit: add URL

Otherwise I'll be streaming over 4g.....  assuming the hotel wifi is rubbish as usual.

If she's any good, you shouldn't need to be watching telly! 😄

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

They won't be, they don't have the rights.
TV1 will be carrying it with an hour's delay - that will be carried on the Sky feed, but it's TV1 so also on Freeview

You aware hotels and bars are permitted to use the existing sky commercial agreements (and pay additional) sub to the popup sky sat channel. It's just not home or general sky accounts that can

RE: DUKE HD on SKY

I saw it there on the satellite during a scan on Monday.. sad to say it's ENCRYPTED so once again NO hd access for Freeview satellite users.

Was knocked back by that making the lunchtime radio news bulletin. Thinking, someones dodged rights here (or got the story slightly wrong). Since itll likely be on that Sat already

I think someone got their wires crossed 😄 Wireless Nation uses Optus D1 for their satellite rural broadband. Most probably they flew over and installed a large dish as shown in the photo. All organized before Sky and Spark did the RWC channel arrangement!

Information and flights to the islands are sparse, sure.  But that story delay is ridiculous then :P
