Thanks Chrizvi, i'll have a look tonight. I'm sure its HD but will confirm what flavour.

Hi JimmyC, this came up in a discussion on the VF forum from my understanding VF no longer has the transparent proxy issue, either it works or it doesn't no half way unless you run a VPN, I don't; others can confirm if I'm right in thinking this.

BTW the PS4 is connected to a 55inch TV you really notice if you get a low quality stream and the reverse when its HD, my issue is with the PS4's WiFi that's not the best at the moment this could be firmware related as other people have noted it on PS4 forums thats why I'm looking at running an Ethernet cable.

After further testing I only got 720p on the Nexus 7 and 720x480 on the Nexus 5 using the example vid.

Super HD on other devices.

I can't comment on PS3 but PS4 has been much better since 1.61 firmware came out. Netflix is watchable in HD.

Chrizvi I set Netflix to the best broadcast quality setting, seems to stream fine.

Im on VDSL 28MBit down - Snap ISP

I have Getflix at the moment as a DNS and using AStrill VPN on another router

Using

PS3
XBox One
Apple TV
Roku 3
WDTV
iPad/iPhone

THe best quality and most consistent performance is the PS3 - It seems to be common knowledge online that this device is the best at selecting the CDN which is closest to you regardless of what DNS service you are using. Apple TV/iPad/iPhone is by far the worst with its choice of CDN varying - someones i can get Super HD and sometimes it just sits on SD. XBox One/360/Roku are all good - but often find the PS3 will go upto SUper HD faster (normally 10-15sec) and is better on regions other than the US.

I also use astrill vpn which always gives me Super HD on the Apple TV.

I haven't used a PS4 - interested to know how this device compares the PS3 - both which will be even better once HBO Go streaming is added.

Thanks. I have seen comments online that suggest that the PS3 patches through PSN which adds some overhead. When mine works it is very good but that is a rarity. From what I see here the common thread seems to be that VF's network is not coping with streaming video. I'm wondering whether anyone on their network is getting a good experience.

I'm on an ADSL2 connection and it all works fine in HD. I don't have any SuperHD devices so don't know how that would go but HD is nice and stable 95% of the time. This is using Getflix's Auckland DNS but also worked fine with UnBlockUS.

Netflix was absolutely shocking last night. Tried all 5 Getflix servers, Oz ones only marginally better than Auckland and Singapore. In frustration I signed up for a trial with Unlocator, which was possibly even worse.

Each DNS change was followed by a restart of the ATV.

That'll be 3 DNS services I've tried with marginal to no performance at all over the last two weeks. Again, this is via VF Cable 130Mbps service with Apple TV v3 cabled direct to a Cisco E4200 router.

What you're describing is exactly what I went through with Telecom. It's highly likely the Vodafone proxy is causing the issue for you (the Telecom proxy was for me).

Try requesting a static IP from Vodafone that doesn't go via the proxy, I reckon that would solve your problem.

This is my system works fine for streaming:

Cable Modem: Cisco Docsis 3
Router: Asus AC66u with Merlin firmware

Main PC: Gigabyte i5 outputting to Samsung 40in TV Full HD
Sony PS4 outputting to LG 55in TV Full HD, through Sony STRDN840

Asus Transformer tablet 10 inch'ish Android 4.3 Full HD display on tablet havent checked what the stream quality is though.

Telecom had a set range of IP addresses that don't go via their proxy. As soon as I got one of those IP's all my problems disappeared and all my devices started working.

Was this using Vodafone?

His gear includes the Cisco Cable Modem so I'd say yes. The difference here for me is you're outputting from your PC to your TV. As I've mentioned earlier, web streaming doesn't seem to be affected. Some streaming devices (Apple TV, PS3 etc) do seem to have issues. The PS4 would appear the odd one out.

Hi Guys,
Yes its a Vodafone connection, and its not running full speed at the moment I though it was a provisioning issue when I moved to 500GB plan but the cable was laying on the dirt under the house, I have been installing insulation and a vapor barrier seems I may have knocked the cable anyway a tech is coming on the weekend to check and confirm where the issue is cable or account.

Getting 50 down and 2 up normally 130'ish down and 10 up.

The one thing that maybe different is the provider I have been using for DNS https://unlocator.com/ I have replaced the Vodafone DNS with the unlocator DNS at teh router level so everything in the local network can access Netflix , BBC etc.
