Two what? Fire TVs or Firesticks? They look a lot different to me and the HDMI Firestick I plugged directly in to my TV is a whole different thing to a HDMI cable running from a FireTV box to the tele.

Using the Firestick remote there was certainly no way to change the DNS. Love to hear how managed to do that.

Just for anyone reading this and trying to set DNS manually:

You need to forget the Wireless network that you would have connected to in initial setup, and add it again manually, then the Advanced box shows up.
Instructions here for unlocator, but change DNS to your DNS redirector of choice:

Pretty sure it works just the same for the stick.

Yes...that was my mistake Trig42. I was mystified at the video posted as I just wasn't seeing the advanced options from the initial set up. Setting up the second network I created manually once I switched to it was when the advanced options showed themselves. Been working brilliantly the last few weeks.

Re the question on hotels, I tried to use the Firestick at the Crown Plaza near LAX before I came back to NZ, but didn't get anywhere. It found the hotel wifi just fine and connected with the password given by the front desk with no problem. As I was in the States, there wasn't any need for a DNS work around so had expected to connect and watch. However, most hotels have their browser based welcome screen to accept terms and conditions and there was no way I could see to do that with the Firestick. I called Amazon techs to ask if there was a way round it and they told me they couldn't help. If someone has found a way to do this, I'd love to hear the solution!

Sideloading Firefox and Wukong TV Remote (Mouse feature) works fine for loading and accepting hotel wifi "Terms and Conditions" page.

My mate just bought the Stick. Can you use it without a DNS service for the likes of Plex?

Is anyone using XBMC on the Stick? I was wondering if you can connect to network drives as I have read a review and the guy couldnt achieve that. Thanks!

Yes I have kodi sideloaded on it, not as smooth as the aftv, but good enough for bedroom tv, acts as a new library though so doesn't update the watched list if I watch something in the lounge

I've bought the Fire Stick and have loaded the Plex app onto it. When I try to buy the $4.99 activation fee it says my gift card has insufficient funds blah blah blah.

Does anyone know how best to get Plex to work on the Fire Stick as it's the main reason I bought it.

I also want to get the BBC iplayer so if anyone can point me in the best direction to set up that would be helpful as well. Many thanks.

Can't help you with the Plex question, but the iPlayer one's fairly easy to fix.

In your Amazon account settings (on a browser), under 'your account' / 'manage your content and devices' / 'settings' / 'country settings', create a new address based on a UK location. Select that address as your 'country', then search for iPlayer; you'll then be able to 'puchase' the app and have it sent to your device, and once this is done you can restore your country setting back to what you want. (There may be a different way, but this is how I did it recently for a Fire TV.)
