ilovemusic: for those already subscribing...

does netflix broadcast movies in their original aspect ratio or do wider than normal widescreen 2.40:1 movies get chopped to fit a 1.78:1 tv screen ?

cheers

Ive been using US one for ages and keeps them in original aspect ratio. So have black bars top and bottom on screen.

PSlover14: Netflix appeared on my xbox 360 in the apps section, its set to NZ, and im with Spark. Also my brothers PS3 shows netflix as a downloadable option.

Does it need you to be an xbox subscriber to use it though?

By xbox subscriber do you mean Xbox Live Gold? because no, you do need an account to go to the store to download it, but you don't need gold anymore to watch netflix. They fixed that. I tried it the other night on my 360, but it took ages to load, so i ended up running out of patience and quitting the app. I don't know about PlayStation, my brother isnt a subscriber to PS Plus, but it appeared under quickflix on his, and his is set to New Zealand as well. And as far as I know, Spark doesnt have a global mode option.

I have the NZ app on my iPad and Sony home theatre system, but it's yet to show on my brand new Panasonic Freeview recorder, or in the Panasonic apps market that it connects to. I can sign in to my US account on my non-geo-unblocked computer and I've been able to search the library via a link posted in another thread for the search page.

That will be good. Never quite understood why they were behind the wall when you have already purchased the devic. eg Youtube which is all freely accessible on other devices.

Interesting, Netflix is now the #1 trending app on the iPhone App store in NZ. Downloading it now.

Are we expecting a midnight launch or delayed to be in time with Australia's midnight launch?

Or further delayed to coincide with the official launch party in Sydney tomorrow night :)

Signed up, but it's not loading on my ATV2 yet. The icon is there, but it says it's not available. Maybe it's on AU time

Notice when you type in Netflix NZ, a google ad for lightbox is first on the list, so the competition is heating up. Is there a full list of programs and movies on Netflix? No info on their website unless you signup.

No full list and the xbox navigation sucks but there is a lot.

The local stuff is just Australian crap though that quickflix has though.

TV I'm viewing on is only 720p and it took around 2 minutes into the show to go from 240p to 720p . there's a counter at the top. My phone streams in 1080 though.

About 25ms to the netflix video servers in Sydney (ipv6_1.lagg0.c021.syd001.ix.nflxvideo.net) from Snap UFB. 720p comes up fairly quickly (I watch Planet Earth in HD)
