... whereas we’ve had terrible quality video from Amazon Prime the previous two nights, and this is the first time we’ve had a problem... Clearly YMMV!
At the same time The Daily Show on Comedy Central has, for the first time in months, been perfect - typically it buffers every minute or so. That may be something Getflix has finally sorted, I guess.
Haven’t watched too much on Netflix since the quality drop that would really demonstrate this. I debated dropping down from the 4K plan for a bit, but assume I’ll still get better video from this than the 1080 option...

Possibly some suburbs are more saturated with the streaming demographic than others?
Noticed a lot of quilting on Netflix tonight - made noticeably worse by my 13 year old TV.
Hi,
I've just ditched Sky Sport and am looking at a Netflix account instead. I have the Vodafone HFC 200 plan over cable. I'm wondering if its worth opting for the Premium Plan at the moment given the reduction in bandwidth, so:
Is the current 4K picture still going to look better than their current HD, and am I likely to notice more delay or buffering?
What percentage of content is available in 4K?
I can't find any mention of audio quality between the plans - is it the same?
Can I downgrade if I try 4K and decide it's not worth it, or do I need to cancel and open a new account?
Is a NetGear R7000 a few feet from the TV likely to be good enough for 4K over Wifi or do I need to hardwire?
I assume I can have many devices linked to the account but only play on any 2 (or 4) simultaneously?
Thanks for you help,
Pete.
4K content will still look better with reduced bandwidth, HFC 200 way more then needed, I'm on 200/20 fibre. Depending on TV how much difference see, OLED and others TV's types better then 4k LCD.
Mainly just Netflix content HDR, and full 4k rarer, but can still see difference on OLED TV. Most third party content HD, some rare exceptions like Blacklist.
Think audio with 5.1 system same on HD or UHD plan.
Can downgrade plans, but have to see out month before it takes effect. If upgrade plans can do immediately so could join HD plan, get an idea of quality then change to UHD and see if think worth it, if not can set downgrade to take effect following month.
Can't answer on NetGear, but I have no problem with wifi UHD on Friz box.
All above to best of my knowledge.
I take your point Cyril. I wasn't really trying to compare SS with Netflix, but I've tried to place some kind of cap on the amount spent on subscription based apps and services, so getting rid of one makes room for something else.

following up on the above reply
premium/uhd plan is supposed to come with dolby atmos, for whichever shows have that. i'm not setup for atmost, so i don't know for sure.
been a while since i used an R7000, but if it's a few feet away, why not use a cable? however, this will be very easy for you to test... and if not happy with wifi, go wired.
Thanks for the responses everyone.
I don't have Atmos capable gear so I might try the HD version to start. I can get an idea of quality, and then as Rugrat suggested upgrade from there if it seems worthwhile.
HD also gives me a couple of streaming options - either HD Chromecast connected to an HDMI input on my receiver, or use the TV's Netflix app and then feed audio back to the amp via the optical output - I think that should work.
Cheers, Pete
NzBeagle: Are we back @ 15Mbps streaming yet, or some time soon? I didn't see an end date previously.
NO!
