Sadly tried again this morning and no :(

Showing as NZ site, no vpn or odd things my end so will just resub and check over the next month. 2 nights of ads is enough for me

Browsing to https://www.youtube.com/premiumlite allowed me to downgrade immediately. No cancellation required.

I go to that link and get. "Premium Lite is in the process of rolling out in your country. Please check back soon. Can't wait? Check out Premium."

Weird it’s given to some, and others get message that roll out has started, but check back later.

If my browser is signed into my Google account it then offers the lite plan.. I get the still rolling out if not signed into Google.

I ditched YT premium when the family plan hit $40. I swapped to Apple Music for $17 (as I was the only active music user in family) and picked up lossless to boot.

Using Brave browser on my iPhone, I can still watch YT add-free and it keeps YT audio playing when switching between apps as well with screen off. Only downside is resolution is slightly downgraded.

If I want hi-res, I use the YT app and have learned to live with the ads - I really don't mind them now.

So I won't be giving Google $170 a year for the new Lite offering.

Im signed into Google, Shows as YouTubeNZ and link wont work :(

So frustrating as seems very random who gets and who does not as I can switch account to another work one and it is there.

If I use a no-cookie private browser I get an offer of one month Lite free then $13.99 per month. So once my current one month free premium expires I'll get a month Lite free then decide. I feel like I've got one over the man!

I watch a bit of YT especially current affairs, DIY and electronics stuff. Certainly more there than Netflix etc so $14 seems fair. Don't need music and have never used storage.

Tried this with VPN - offfered but in Japanese (was a Japan vpn). Tried a different browser zero cookies and offered it with NZ link. Yay. Login and it changes back to you are not elegible. Over it. It is linked to my Goggle account definately.

My Premium expires in a couple of days and when I am not signed in I can get the offer - as soon as I sign in, I get the message that this service is in the process of being rolled out in my country etc etc.
