i suppose on-demand works like Youtube, watch it whenever you like during the given time frame, not followed by any schedule.

Phexx: I just watched it as well and I agree. Honestly, the quality was poor on my pc and I can't even imagine what it would be like a large TV.

I did have a period tonight when it dropped to 400k and it looked terrible (don't know why as speedtest was still good). Even when it sped up to 1600 it was still pretty bad with any movement. If the picture is noticeably pixelated it may be the rate has dropped off but not so easy to tell as I don't see the rate reported on the player (have to use other tools).

A word of caution with this test being a single clip of 7m45s. On my browser it is cached so when I got a 3M stream (reasonable but not good HD), when I watched it again it was being fed from the cache, not the network, so not a valid test over time. Clear the browser cache if doing repeat assessments.

I also see some segments being pulled from a CDN server in the US which tend to struggle this time of day and when they are got from the local CDN server performance is generally much better. Perhaps there is still some tuning of the service to be done (he says hopefully).

Oh dear, this is the answer I got back from support when I asked about the poor picture quality on my Smart TV:

Thank you for contacting Premier League Pass support.

Unfortunately at this time access via Smart tvs is not support. Access at this time is only available via computer/laptop. Mobile apps are being developed for mobile devices and tablets and will be available in the near future.

Decided to email them and ask about the quality, I got a long winded email reply telling me it must be my flash player settings that are causing the issues. . . .
Be interesting to see quality of a live game, see if it is the same as the demo clip.

It is a bit sad that when you go to their website and view FAQ's. The most questions are about technical issues that may arise.

I can see some very unhappy people who purchase this and then get poor quality and have many issues.

Much more difficult then turning on TV picking the channel or selecting the recorded programme and pushing play.

Does the Priemer League not realise in their grab for more money they will be alienating probably their most hardcore fans in NZ?

No of course not, they're simply interested in the money they can get from overseas media; its very obvious when you look at the FA and the EPL how commercial they are these days.

Right now this screams of simple easy attempt at getting a return on investment, there is no facility to for controlling by a remote 10' away from the screen; it's all about sitting close to your PC or if you're lucky your tablet can play it back (now lets see if the apps for tablets/smartphones come before launch!)

They're going to be very lucky if they can get a return on their investment for this, I doubt the New Zealand market has enough "hardcore" fans who are willing to pay for a dedicated EPL subscription outside of normal pay-tv. Morningstar seem to think they need 13,000 subscribers to break even.

Have they got a 5 year old writing their emails??? The grammar is most unimpressive.

Really disappointed that it is a flash product and actually quite angry that there is no smart TV support!

I am a little confused though; can you access their site without an app and watch it through your browser on your smart TV?

DJRM, I would imagine so however it depends on the flash capability of your TV. My Samsung Plasma is a Smart TV and is 'ok' with flash but higher qualities really push it to the point of not working well. Dedicated apps are fine.

I might forgive them if they produce the content at 1080i (720p is an absolute minimum though) and released apps for Android TVs, Apple TVs and Smart TVs plus released a connection API for 3rd party open source stuff. Right now though, I'm going to be without football for the first time in my life!

I just sent an email to Premeir League voicing my opinion on the matter. Probably make no difference but ......

I see there are problems in other countries too. The price to watch EPL in Singapore has nearly doubled

IMHO it's not the Premier League who are responsible for the content and its delivery but the people at Coliseum.

The support questions all are directed to neulion which seems to be a big US based content streaming firm who again don't really give a stuff as long as they get the money.

I feel a boycott coming on!!

Just for the record, I was watching the demo clip via the Samsung TVs native browser not via a connected laptop/PC

It seems that if you have a subscription you can watch Man City vs Sunderland from the Asia trophy on demand.

I just tried the sample vieeo on a 23" LCD with my connection usually around 6MB and the video quality was awful. I've watched better youtube clips done by amateurs.

Ill be absolutely gutted if this is what is available.
