kiwiharry: Tried watching via my 2018 LG TV through the Web interface. Feed keeps briefly freezing every 5 to 10 seconds. Connected via Ethernet cable to router.

No issues on my Samsung A8 over WiFi.

Feed on TV now about 2 minutes behind my phone.

The TV browser probably doesn't have the horse to run it. Remembering that it would likely be doing software decode for the drm.

I'd recommend casting for your device...

When I tested it after I purchased the earlybird pass it was glitch free. Was still glitch free again 4-6 weeks ago when comms went out asking people to test their setups.

I decided to have my RWC pass refunded about 2 or 3 weeks ago once it was confirmed 2018 and older LG TV's would not be getting the app in time. Figured best to call it then rather than ask after event started.

Not complaining, just passing on my experience.

But great to hear that Spark Sports systems performed well last night. Best wishes for tonight.

It's not so much a problem with streaming, it's a reality of streaming. There is always a delay involved.

Exactly. It's got to buffer a small amount on your device.

It's not so much a problem with streaming, it's a reality of streaming. There is always a delay involved.

Nothing that is broadcast live is ever actually "live". Streaming or broadcast TV or otherwise. Physics and all that....

Exactly. People are moaning (in the NZH article I saw) about there being a 30 second delay from the TV broadcast, which already has an inherent delay. Spark cannot help that and it's trivial anyway, yet people have impossibly high expectations of Spark and the Herald goes and regurgitates them and then everyone reading the article says "oooh, Spark is no good".

I actually think Spark have done a great job with the performance of the streams. Our house had 2x Chromecasts playing the RWC at the same time last night. No problemo.

I watched the RWC ceremony and game live last night on Chrome, on Windows 10, over VDSL (60mb/s max). The broadcast seemed to blip, most noticely on audio, every 10/12 seconds. Not major enough for me to call Spark, but enough for me to comment here, and look at other ways of getting it on the big screen. I have just tried streaming a non-live feed, and still get the blips on Chrome, but less frequent/noticeable. I tried in on Edge (lol) and it told me only Chrome and Firefox were option for the website, so the browser obviously IS important to the streaming process. Downloaded Firefox, and the non-live stream seemed to work fine. We will see with the live stream in a few hours.

Last night i watched most of the live game on my slow rural ADSL (5-6Mbs) and it was watchable on Chromecast 2 on 65" telly - definitely better than the dodgy streams ( and Rugbypass) I've used in the past.

I'm guessing that the framerate is cut to meet the low bandwidth so action is not smooth but definitely watchable will see how it goes with AB v SA tonight

That's so good to hear that 5-6 MBs is cutting it and some people in rural NZ are not totally disadvantaged. Please post after tonights game as this will be the real pressure test.

I watched on an Apple TV (Wireless 5Gz although router is less than metre away, not hard wired as I swap to other VPN Wifi routers) via Spark fibre and it was seamless. Switched over to TVNZ feed to compare and thought the Spark feed looked sharper. Have also tested on Chromecast on phone to Nvidia shield and Chrome browser running on Linux Mint both were equal 7/10, Apple TV was the winner and gets a 10/10.

It's all just turned to custard here.

Watching Aus v Fiji using Samsung app. Switched to Sky to see how the Counties v Southland match is going.

Now I cant get back to the RWC game live.

"We are having problems playing this right now. Please try again later."

4 attempts to rejoin the feed so far, all failed.

I will try "watch from the beginning" and see if I can ffwd to live.

Edit : nope, that wont load either.

I'm out in te mata for a show the partner is in later tonight...

Mobile signal is like 1 bar outside if your lucky.
Pulled the Hotspot out, locked to 4g and ommi just for an extra boost.

Getting 30mbit on speedtests and full 1080p60 stream.

Not bad for casually sitting out in the sun in the middle of nowhere.

Yesterday I bit the bullet and bought the package..

Last night and tonight -

I've been watching via web browser on my HTPC. Flawlessly switched to the mobile app (wifi) and again flawless in switching back over now watching back on the HTPC/web browser. And I am going over a 9km airFiber 5XHD link to a house with my fiber connection. PQ is great!

Spark RWC is working really good for us here at the house.
