Update on music quality - after a couple of songs the "high quality" setting seems to have kicked in. Working well now.

I just signed up for a year. One thing to look out for is that the fee is shown and charged in US dollars, which isn't particularly clear from the signup page. It just says $36 without any indication if it is $NZ or $US. So it's $US36. Though I did sort of guess that from the tax being $0.

Used it on my commute to work this morning - well impressed with the associated artists it chose on my selected "artist" channel. Cohesive artist choices with lots of stuff I know and like and also some new stuff, already purchased some CDs online after hearing a couple of bands.

I find their selections pretty good, and they get better as it gets to know your tastes. I have about ten stations depending on what I feel like at the time.

I've created about 15 stations from my favourite artists and then shuffle the lot. It seems to play quite a lot of the 15 artists with a few extras thrown in every now and then.

Have only tried the ipad version. Sound quality is good. I can't browse an artist discography like I can on spotify but the search function works well.

Yeah im really happy this is finally out legitimately. Listen to it everywhere.

Subscribed audio quality is alright, doesn't sound much like 192kbps, more like 128-160kbps

New to Pandora, impressed.
iPad app is good, and "Christmas traditional" station is just what the doctor ordered.
Also, pretty cleverly I thought, I will try the 24 hour free trial tomorrow, listend all Christmas day and see how I like it :)

Cheers,
Joseph

Has anyone been able to get Pandora to work in NZ on Smart TVs or Smart Blu-Ray players? I have an LG 42" LM6200 TV and Panasonic DMP-BDT220 Blu Ray player both with Internet access. I'd like to play Pandora via my stereo. Have asked Pandora about when it will be available but had no reply.

Tried it on my car stereo, works well, the skip button works, seems I can thumbs up/down a song through bluetooth as well, doesn't display anything though which would have been nice, I think the American model of my head unit has greater integration than the Kiwi model as the manual's instructions didn't add up to my experience at all.

I noticed that with the android app, you an skip 6 times per station per hour. So if you have used up all your skips, you can just change station, and you can start skipping again. However the desktop version only allows you 6 skips for all the stations combined. This is even if you are logged in. So the desktop version is more crippled than the mobile one. I haven't used spotify all that much, but hte desktop one seems pretty versatile, while the mobile app requires you to have a paid subscription. So I rate Pandora for mobile (their app even works on ios4), and Spotify for desktop usage. They are both good just to find new music and bands, to then purchase through itunes (or a CD), where you can get a full 256k copy of the song.I am surprise apple still haven't got anything like this in itunes, because it just means that people are using these other services instead.

I have Pandora on my Samsung C series, I had to change the location to USA in the system menu.

This is really annoying me about Pandora, why aren't they supporting these devices in NZ? Sonos, Smart TV's, most internet radios are all Pandora capable but are not being supported here it seems. This was one of the questions I would have liked asked of the Pandora guy when he was here.
