kharris: I'm still getting emails from the crackdown thread so clearly some people still have access to it. Just the select few I assume. Can someone tell me how to disable email notifications for a thread that apparently doesn't exist.

Well, having voiced my concern about these open discussions - going back to Slingshots foolhardy marketing (where are you now vocal General Manager of Marketing for Slingshot?), I have to agree, reluctantly. I'm still ok with Netflix UK, but really panic at the thought of losing my beloved BBC!

Plus using the link you gave me I can only clear all current notifications. Why on earth would I want to do that.

As stated earlier the reason is to keep these threads out of plain sight and not to start a private club. So no, it is not elitist at all. It isn't just Geekzone doing this - it is other online communities too.

What he's saying is that anyone who wants in is invited, but not that anyone anywhere can google our knowledge, and especially not anyone with interests in stopping us achieving goals that are legal in our country.

Do you really let 'everyone' have full access to your Facebook(etc) account just to make sure non are excluded, or do you add friends and relatives as they already know you and have a valid interest?

Demon was a typo. It's been corrected. I believe as a public forum that is open to anybody all information provided should be for all members. I'm not against shutting the thread down. I'm just saying if if not going to be public then it should be closed completely.

Thank you. I still disagree with the way this is being handled. If you want to shut the threads down, fine, but I don't like the idea of private threads on a public forum. And for those that suddenly want me to open up my Facebook to everyone, don't be rediculous. Facebook as a different medium altogether. The premise that not all Facebook info is public is well known. Geek zone I thought was a public forum.

Anyway that's my opinion and the last I want to say on the matter.

If the boss wants to change his business model and make this a subscription only forum then I would probably happily join but as his model currently includes advertising revenue then some of us better look at those ads aye otherwise they won't like to pay much ??

Some of the responses here leave me shaking my head and wondering WTF. This thread needs to be locked. It's unfathomable it requires 4 pages to discuss something made very clear on page 1.

It was an announcement, not an invitation to discuss.
