An update from me.

So I was getting lots of buffering using unblock-us. So I got a router, flashed it with tomatoe and setup a VPN using strong VPN. I now get zero buffering timeouts and it works great. I also have a second wifi Sid for anything I need to access in the states.

I just need a workaround to get the other channels to work like Disney etc

Toys: Ã¯Â£Â¿ iphone 4s; PS3 good times. Ã¯Â£Â¿ 13inch macbook pro. Ã¯Â£Â¿ ipad 3. Ã¯Â£Â¿ 27inch imac. Ã¯Â£Â¿ airport express & time machine. raspberry-pi running xbmc and a gopro try hard.

How will you get them to send the dvds via youshop?

Oh I didn't know it was an actual physical subscription, I thought it was a digital one.

Bringing this one back from the death.

After the new apple tv update I've decided to give netflicks and a few other services ago.

But I'm on Telstra with the transparent proxy issue...

I'm doing a trial now and it seems ok'ish. Getting a few hold ups.

Was there ever a solid answer to this issue using unblock-us with TCL.

Was also looking at a Roku but I'm an apple fan boy so thought I'd give this ago first.

I've been using Unblock-Us on Telstra Clear and initially it didn't work but in the last couple of months, has been working fine and don't have the transparent proxy issue. I don't think I changed any settings or lodged a support ticket either.
Interestingly, I've had lots of buffering issues on the PS3 and Apple TV but no streaming issues when I watch on my computer.
This happens on ADSL but not on Fibre. (We have both - still under contract on Telstra)

No problemo with UnblockUs on a slow 4 Mbit connection with Netflix for me.

Are you entering the unblock DNS entries in your ADSL touter or in the Apple TV network settings??

me either (on telecom) about the same connection speed as well.

I notice that Apple TVs tend to start higher quality then drop and step up as needed. Whereas a roku will start lower quality and step up if possible after about 10 -20 seconds

Have been using Unblock-US + Apple TV 2 for Netflix for the last 4 months. Honestly it's been great and I've seen a reduction of my actual over-all TV watching time, since I can choose when to watch and exactly what I want to watch. This seems to satisfy my entertainment needs quicker, so I end up watching less.

Have the Unblock-US DNS permanently set in the Apple TV and the majority of my watching is done through this setup. Some evenings I can get a lot of buffering (Vodafone DSL) and there was a small period of a few days were it was unwatchable. My Apple TV seems to try and hold the high quality stream for a long time, even when its obvious the bandwidth isn't available. But overall the quality/speed has been great.

I do have to say however, that I much prefer the navigation experience & speed of Netflix via the web browser. Apple TV can be clunky and slow with load times when going back/forward between navigation menus.

I've recently tried unotelly with AppleTV 3 and the streaming was pretty terrible. Tried setting DNS on the router and on the apple TV but neither made any difference. Pausing on Hulu and Vevo with constant shifting between SD and HD on Netflix.

Was watching continuum on Netflix last night and it was constantly going back and forwards between SD and HD. Changed to use a Astrill VPN via internet connection sharing and get full super HD all the time.

Maybe these DNS services are ok for 720p streams or maybe it depends where you are or something but for me a VPN is a whole lot faster.

P.S ISP is Snap! VDSL with 46Mbps down.

Are you on telstraclear? If so it's the transparent proxy and DNS hacks don't play nice. It seems they def do some traffic shaping. It was happening to me at exactly 8pm every night it would turn to custard.

Loving my router solution now never an issue. Should of done it ages ago!

I user Overplay Smart DNS services and have very few issues on Netflix and Hulu, I can pretty much always watch in Super HD for movies and TV series. Im also on VDSL.

Hi i am with Vodafone and have UFB with them and the only issues i ever get are congestion based and as i indicated before i use unblock us and it is in the router.
