I was surprised by the volume of content that is 4k HDR, seems Disney have done a proper job of launching additional content into a modern streaming platform. If only Neon would follow suit.....

Disney+ itself has lots of 4k, Atmos, etc. I haven't seen anything on Star yet with these.

That being said, it blows Neon out of the water - I'm still wanting something more than PCM Stereo 2.0 on Neon!

Watched Alien last night - 4K HDR10.

I can't watch the Alien series of movies. They  they scare the bejesus out of me. I don't think my heart could take it.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I don't think they are as impressive as The Exorcist... But different thresholds.

Neon is a great example of a service that should be great, but is hamstrung by either a case of "can't be aresdness" or a case of "they should be greatful for what we give them", or it could be hamstrung by a lack of investment. Its possibly a combination of any of those, I suspect its a bit of all 3.

They are using Lightbox's platform which was PCM Stereo 2.0 only. We asked them about 5.1 over the years, but no go.

Maybe Lightbox had a programmer that wrote obfuscated, undocumented, uncommented code, and Neon have no idea how it all works? (I'm kidding).

On the other hand, disney could be 1 million k with HDR 1000 but I still don't want to watch Hannah Montanna type movies.

Meaning, I sub to Neon not to Disney for the content not the eye candy.

I take it you haven't seen the recent additions with Star? Over 800 titles were added the other day, many R rated.

Did you even read the topic and the two posts with new TV series and new movie titles available with the addition of Star or just replying without reading it?

Errr nope. That'll learn me for dipping in and out of a thread.

I see it's got Kingsman and the end scene of that is definitely not Hannah Montana material.

As far as I can tell Star is not available in the US, because they have other streaming services already covering the content. So anyone using a DNS to access US Disney+ won’t see the ‘local’ R18 content.

Looks like this is the reason we can't see Star at home. We use GetFlix for our home DNS (only to access one specific service now). Appears we've been getting the US Disney Plus experience rather than the NZ version (despite paying with a NZ Google account). No way on GetFlix to adjust the DisneyPlus region (have got everything set to Off). Hot spotted onto 2D cell and went to DisneyPlus.com - got a message about 'travelling' and potentially seeing a different catalogue. No way to turn on Star though.

Edit: more playing confirms above, finally got Star working on 2D, back to GetFlix and get an error about being unavailable in my country. Have logged a ticket with GF but I think it might be time to move on from them.

@kingjj: We use Getflix (at the router level, so it affects all devices on the network) and have no problem accessing the NZ version of Disney+, including the new Star content.

I do recall, though, that I had to sign up via mobile data, as trying to do this via our BB had it asking us to sign up for US Disney+, including encouraging us to sign up for the wider (incl Hulu and ESPN) package, which we had no interest in...

I've logged a call with them and was told that they've requested the functionality but in the interim to use a VPN instead. *sigh* I've removed it for now as that's just sucky.

Reply from GetFlix:

"Thank you for your email.

We do apologize in advance as of the moment the only server we can access for Dinsey+ is Disney + US.

Please let me know if there is anything further I can do to help. :)"

I might try signing up again using Mobile Data in the interim. Will also be trialling another smart dns provider.

I ended up changing from Getflix to dns4me a while ago, because it allows you to set the Disney+ region to NZ, while still changing the regions for all other streaming services. And I've found it to be more reliable so far.
