This could be quite useful. Can I suggest we collate our findings in this thread across:

iTunes
Hulu Plus
PSN (Playstation network)
Spotify

I only use iTunes, so can check that out.

Just tried to buy a spotify subscription with it. Didn't work at all.

I guess Netflix would want a subscription and the provider system replied with a "not ok to use for monthly payments".

Interesting because Hulu is also monthly subscription but you say works.

Netflix should not be an issue because they accept NZ cards. That's what I use.

Netflix actually complained about it being prepaid. I know prepaid cards weren't supposed to be used for subscriptions - perhaps Netflix check this and Hulu doesn't (seeing Hulu accepted those cards that started this conversation).

same can be said with vudo. Its only hulu+ that i have ever had a problem with.

I might switch my Hulu to this card. With the dollar so strong at the moment I can lock into a good rate and fill the OneSmart card with funds to cover a year of Hulu and other bits and pieces I might want to buy from places that don't accept a NZ CC. Plus the cost for exchanging NZD to USD is nill and their rates are competitive. That compares with the lowest other way I have used which is a bank draft which cost $17 and I have to mail it over to my friends.

Not quite. I chucked 50 NZD on the card, converted to USD and checked to see what it would be if I moved it back again. There is a cost for exchanging, it just isn't an upfront fee - it is hidden as the 'Mastercard conversion rate'. There is a percentage spread between NZD->USD and USD->NZD, which means that you do lose a bit each time you transfer between currencies on the card.

I would never move it back so that's not an issue for me.

Plus that's no different when buy USD here and exchange the unspent back to NZD when you get back. There is a margin each way and it's not just MasterCard.

Loaded the Astrill Tomato version of the firmware on my router which is really good because it lets me filter devices that should go via the VPN or even certain website's. Have allowed the Xbox 360 and PS3 to do so.

Signed up Hulu Plus, got a 2 week trial + deposited NZ$11 ($10 after Air NZ fees) in the OneSmart card which equated to US$8.19. Hulu Plus debited $1 and then credited the $1 after verifying the card. Good to go for month and half.

Going to test it out on PS3 tonight with a US PSN account and see what it's like else will buy a gold subscription for the Xbox 360 and load it on my US gamertag and use kinect to control Hulu Plus. Have already watched few episodes of The Office via the browser on the PC :-)

Do whatever you want to do man.

Amazon On Demand - OK. I was able to purchase and stream a video fine. But I think I will sign up for Amazon prime (for the free shipping in the US for my daughter) and then get free streaming (well free until I hit my cap!)

It takes credit cards from any country and I don't think it requires an address.

Adding Zune/WP7 USA accounts, which is remarkable. I've managed to purchase apps on my USA Live account, so in theory Zune Pass should also work, but my current 1 year doesn't expire until October.

If you've got a Windows Phone, a Zune pass completely changes the experience.
