Also did anyone notice a difference in quality for SAM v RUS last night? It wasn't like the AB's game with clearly noticeable drops in quality, rather than the picture just wasn't as sharp despite KODI reporting 1080/60. It was almost like the camera was sometimes slightly out of focus and may have been some issue with the original broadcast. Overall the quality of the picture for the matches I have watched is very good. Comparable with Sky.

The quality looked excellent for me. Watching on a Raspberry PI 4. When pressing O on keyboard (ctrl + shift o gives you detailed stream stats), kodi tells me it is 50 fps, so I set the resolution to 1080/50 and looks perfect to me. Using matt h plugin. Despite when you choose play quality at, says 60 fps top quality, but option above gives a different result.

Another poster made reference to that recently. When set to 60fps, to me the audio wasn't quite in sync, especially noticeable during half time chats.

I noticed the same using on another kodi setup. So not sure if that is a issue with kodi. Also seen similar issues on another channel sports streams. Caused micro jitters or something like that.

But as a keen sports watcher, really loving the spark sport setup. Being able to watch ondemand is a game changer!

What is the view about the Spark Sport app on samsung TVs?

I tried again last night for Samoa vs Russia - Quality was generally OK (ie not as good as watching the finish of ABs game on Duke) but got an episode  pixellation on the top of screen and looping of ~1 sec of picture while the sound continued on unaffected.

I am on Trustpower Fibre with 2.4ghz wifi connection to TV.

The Australian Fiji game on the weekend was completely unwatchable on that combination, despite Spark saying the problems only occurred later with the AB game.  I watched the AB game with an HDMI connection from my laptop (Chrome browser) to the TV and it was excellent till the second half.

So I am wondering if the problems I am experiencing are because the App on a TV is half baked?

Besides the obvious issues from the ABs game on Saturday night, I've had zero issues with the SpSp app on my Samsung TV, although mine is cabled into the network.

Could be the app, but you'd want to check all the usual wifi checks. i.e. distance to wifi router, number of devices and interference from neighbours / cordless phones / microwave etc. Can you plug in a ethernet cable to rule that out?

Yes, I need to get a slightly longer cable to rule out wifi problems,  but the laptop is old, also running at the same location and 2.4ghz and was a mostly excellent experience - the problems were picture quality degrading rather than buffering, pixellation etc.  And Netflix and TVNZ/TV3 on demand all work without issues.

@jaybeedee I watched the Russia v Samoa game last night on my Samsung TV via their app. I had what looked like a not quite sharp picture, occasional jitteryness, but not the pixelation as per your image.

so dumb question, but if there is a problem on my set-up would I expect to see the same sort of streaming issues watching a replay ?

That's a "It depends" sort of question...

in this instance i'd be pointing figures at the use of 2.4Ghz wifi.

My partners flat has one of the Trustpower connections, and i must say the wifi on it is utter garbage in my experience.

It's all good for something like netflix because it buffers but live streaming content, and netflix tends to stick a nice buffer on to take advantage of this..

Has anyone applied for a partial refund?

I have, but have received no acknowledgement from SparkSport.

So I am not sure if that's because they aren't sending "thank you for your request" emails, or my request hasn't gone through.

Has anyone received any sort of notification after applying for a refund?

I  applied for the partial. No conformation back either. Has not appeared on my CC yet.

I cancelled my RWC Tournament pass on Sept 12. I'm still waiting to see the refund appear on my CC. I'm sure they said 3-5 businesses days, but am giving them 10 business days.

I'm more disappointed at this part, especially given your role in the ISP world.. friends don't let friends go with TP

😂

Rather off topic... But it's not a connection i control or influence, they had a door to door person sell them gbit... for a house that is lucky if they peak 50mbit..

My shared data has really increased in utilization though.. It's starting to cost me more than biting the bullet to unlimited...

i dont think trustpower is all that bad, the likes of @taneb1 are Great. they just got the short straw with that CPE to be honest...

anyone else noticed the ghosting of not just the ball but player at FIJI vs URU game? I thought it's my TV. But tried another and browser too (well that's less noticeable because of smaller screen)

I used the APP and also KODI

Also, being in the ISP world you would know WiFi can be utter garbage on any ISP - the ISP can control the connection but has no oversight of how WiFi is configured, interference, other networks, etc.
